An inverted left back is my guess.

He's left footed though.

I'm not following?

I understand inverted full/wing backs like inside forwards and such, are "best" or typically played with their weaker foot on the opposite side they are playing as they supposedly play narrower and then pass to wingers wide on their side from that position rather than being wide themselves.

That's what's somewhat what is going on with Cancelo who's right footed, so since Ake left footed, he'd more naturally be an inverted right back, no?

For inside fowards, like Mahrez it's to be able to cut towards the goal to drag the defence and keeper one way and then be able shoot across their body into the top corner of the side they play on. Leads to more goals from the wide forward/winger position than when played with their stronger foot on the same side, which is mostly better for crossing.

We play inverted fullbacks quite often. Decent article on it here, worked best with Sterling and Sane as orthodox wingers.

The article sums it up properly. Inverted wingers doesnt mean the same as inverted full backs.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely. Wasn't aware I was arguing Pep doesn't use inverted backs. I remember when we did it with Delph who was tbf left footed and Sane wide, but that was also because he isn't a good crosser and has pretty much no right foot.

All good mate.

He’ll sign when he’s back from holidays next week supposedly.

I am excited about this signing. As stated above he can play LB/CB/DM. Hes ‘behind Laporte in the pecking order’ but I can see him starting 50 games next season

I'm excited with any signing we make instead of seeing the useless cunts we currently have at the back fucking up, every other game.

Hopefully they have settled relationships and are not partial to some dogging and the like.

I like him and believe that he will be a very good player for us.
Seems to be a decent hard working lad with the right attitude, a very necessary ingredient of our signings.

Stones seemed to be the same until his personal life fucked his playing style up and hes never been the same player since.....walker went the same way but seems to have bounced back.

We need god fearing defenders.!

That's Soooo.... pre lockdown. Limited menu.

A clear indication if any signing these days is a post from City64 who taken them out for a Stella breakfast.

Official.

Seems he will be the backup for Laporte given he's also left-footed.
