An inverted left back is my guess.
He's left footed though.
I'm not following?
I understand inverted full/wing backs like inside forwards and such, are "best" or typically played with their weaker foot on the opposite side they are playing as they supposedly play narrower and then pass to wingers wide on their side from that position rather than being wide themselves.
That's what's somewhat what is going on with Cancelo who's right footed, so since Ake left footed, he'd more naturally be an inverted right back, no?
For inside fowards, like Mahrez it's to be able to cut towards the goal to drag the defence and keeper one way and then be able shoot across their body into the top corner of the side they play on. Leads to more goals from the wide forward/winger position than when played with their stronger foot on the same side, which is mostly better for crossing.
