Still think he will stay at Barca and this is just a play to get either a new contract or president or both.

Just can't see him leaving the life he has had for 20 years, especially with his family settled

Maybe we can do what the italian clubs did to us: Loan him for 2 years and let them pay us 10 mil in 4 years.

Rooney demanded a transfer whilst at the rags and had the MIB show up at his house. He did a huge u-turn when he got offered £300k a week from the rags.

Usually that is the ploy but I think he has backed himself into a corner that can only result in him leaving.

He doesn't need the pay day unless it is going to be an absolutely crazy offer and even at that he won't win anything for the next few years.

If the board resigns and Messi stays, he has just brought another level of pressure on himself when they don't win LA liga or cl.

I think he sees that Barca are possibly going into a bit of a transition that could take 3-5 years. If he gets out now and Barca win nothing for the next few years it will be because Messi left and it will cement his status. If he stays and the board goes, Messi will get the blame when they win nothing

And the same with Gerrard - all agreed a move to Chelsea until the Scouse mafia got involved with their threats.

Already this is getting tiring. Hope this circus does not distract from us getting what we really need.
A centre back, and left back, then a replacement for sergio.

If, IF, we were to spunk 100m on messi, I would rather that money went to finding sergs replacement, a player we potentially can have for 10 years.

No matter how lovely it would be, we dont NEED a short term aging superstar.

This is pretty much where I stand on this. The plus of signing Messi would be incredible extra commercial growth which could fund a blow away signing and possibly a lure for other talent - Mbappe springs to mind would he play alongside him for one season?

The next few hours MCFC will hear whether Barcelona have agreed to let Messi leave his contract .
This seems to be the “latest” angle !
