Juan Manuel Lillo

Postby City64 » Wed Dec 16, 2020 5:33 pm

Juan Manuel Lillo what exactly has he brought to our club in the 10 months he has been here since replacing Mikel Arteta? Our slump in form and results and our boring tepid football coincides with his tenure . Pep has become a different manager since Juan Manuel Lillo arrived becoming a shadow of the highly motivated charismatic genius he was . Our owners need to act now and show Lillo the door .

Spot on

Our loss of identity and lacklustre form can be traced back to Arteta leaving and his appointment

Would not be too upset to see Domènec Torrent return and replace Lillo.

It's not like last season with Arteta was any different.

But agree, Lillo brings nothing, but the issue is more complex and revolves around a certain catalan.

Last season we didn’t have enough Cbs through long term injury but we played our usual attacking dominant football and scored an incredible amount of goals .Conceding was the issue then . This season we have scored 3 goals less than when Brian Horton was fucking manager in 93/94 ffs . For some ridiculous reason we changed our style of play when Lillo arrived and continued with it , culminating in the shit show that is this season .

Mancini and Brian Kidd used to have a bit of fun, baldie is a miserable cnut and it's rubbing off on the players, and making the fans miserable too. Baldie has led us to silverware but it's becoming hard to listen to him and his team selection at times is mind boggling.

Lillo is the most miserable cunt I have ever seen in a city dug out and we have had a few of those over many many years . Lillo has brought us nothing and made us a lot worse in a short space of time , Pep is a proven world class manager he hasn’t become shit overnight but his head does seem to have been turned by Lillo and our results and performances reflect this . Lillo is the issue not Guardiola .

Mourhino was a world class manager and now hes shit - it happens.

The man who is paid 20 MILLION POUNDS A YEAR is 100% to blame for where we are now so It's no good deflecting the fucking blame game....hes the cunting manager and he fuckign employed him so how can you blame his number 2 ??

Anyway - his miserable cunting number 2 isn't in charge of team selections or making tactical subs is he - that's the yellow ribbon wearing tits job.

Mourinho never adopted the style of Pep is renowned for , in fact mourinho is clueless how to adapt to attacking football , he is and always will be a park the bus specialist who is getting lucky this season with all the shite football being played by all and sundry. It is a fact our decline in play and results coincide with Lillo being here Carl no matter how much you dislike Pep . It is a woeful appointment he needs to gone . Mourinho is yesterday’s man , every other manager is copying Peps style . Lillo has brought NOTHING absolutely NOTHING he has to go now .

Ferguson made so many bad decisions whilst at the rags but he is still the most successful manager the PL has seen and will ever see . Pep has probably made just 20% of Ferguson’s mistakes .

I would get Kompany as No2, and start coaching the next coach......it’s a no brainer

I listened to Iain Macintosh’s podcast recent episodes on Pep’s next 2 years at City and supposedly Lillo’s a true football philosopher. One who is an almost radical ideas man that tends to lean towards the more intense attacking football approach that influenced Pep who sees him as a massive influence.

Now, why we are more conservative is another question, since allegedly he would be pushing Pep to attack not play with a double pivot.

However, I think one thing that some forget about Arteta was he had relationships with players as one who played in the PL not so long ago.

I am not so certain our issues are tactical and much as mental and about team cohesion.

Pep emphasizes this but when you’re the intense one who drives others mad even if they respect you, one can also need someone to help get those ideas across to the players when doubts arise.

I don’t see Lillo as likely that person. Kidd is an old man.

Where is the younger assistant who can bridge that gap? You don’t always need it, but maybe there is that need.

Also, it could be Pep reacted heavily to his attacking style leading to leaking goals in key moments very often in the PL ad CL, either inexplicably or against top sides on the counter.

The other variable is that we are in an extremely strange period in football history. Things are not working as they were, and pressing - a vital aspect to Pep’s approach - is in massive decline across Europe. This is something to take into account. How much I don’t know, but some components of all of these variables I can see at play, which also includes some strange and hard to fully explain player declines in their prime.

There are others but it takes many variables to have something like this transpire, I suspect.

The double pivot is being tested and perfected for the CL. That solidity is required for the games with the really top teams.

Our 'real' issues are nobody to put the chances away when Kun is injured.
Plus slow buildups, a lack of creativity especially from midfield resulting in no cutting edge i.e. no penetration.
The worrying thing is we do not have the players to rectify the above issues. Nobody that can play like big Dave, Yaya and a younger fitter Kun.
Then factor in the lack of balls and real leadership in a lot of our players and you have to conclude that we are going backwards.

For starters we need two players with balls. One to put the chances created away and one creative player to speed up delivery from midfield.

BTW Brown for me is not captain material.

77% possession v WBA we dominate the ball. Pep the coaches, must find a solution to the lack of goals to match this as we have done. Digging out Juan, smacks of pitch fork fans, looking for a scapegoat. Nobody has a clue what roles they all play behind the scenes and we have a shed load of coaches. On the pitch we have lost winners and game changers, that needs sorting possibly in Jan if we want to challenge, will we ignore this window again is the biggest question for me. We here from the club via the chairman, we have our targets, so get them, we need reinforcements.

I still think this is because we are beyond predictable, we offer nothing new in the game, we actually pass pass pass and hope someone fucks up and we score.
