Bit early but hey ho.

Hope everyone enjoyed yesterday and looking forward to a traditionally big day of sport.

We are last on which is a bit shit but that’s the nature of the beast in these COVID-19 times.

Couple out with COVID-19 but regardless, anything less than a win here against these will be nothing short of disgraceful. The elephant man has them playing some of the PLs most dour, unattractive, insipid football. We have a great record recently against Newcastle and they should continue to be our bunny and plaything today.

4-0 Torres

Piss aside, I want a big win.
I've developed a big antipathy towards them since their penultimate fixture versus the criminals in the 2018/19 season when they lost 3-2, but under the Fat Waiter their performance was a disgrace to the game.

So a 7-0 will do for me today.

8 o’clock is a good time for the game on Boxing Day. Time to get dinner in and then onto the beers.

MATCH FACTS

Head-to-head

Manchester City have won their past 11 Premier League home games against Newcastle United, a club record run against any top-flight opponent. It is also Newcastle's longest sequence of league defeats against one team.

Newcastle's most recent away league victory in this fixture came 20 years ago, in September 2000.

City can match the Premier League record of scoring in 24 consecutive matches against one club. They have scored 61 goals in 23 games against the Magpies.

Manchester City

Manchester City's total of 23 points from 13 games remains the worst start to a top-flight season of Pep Guardiola's coaching career. He has always previously had at least 25 points after 12 games.

City have scored 19 goals in 13 league fixtures at a ratio of 1.46 per game, their worst since 2007-08. It is also the lowest goals-to-games return of Guardiola's managerial career.

However, no Premier League side have conceded fewer goals than City's 12.

City could lose on Boxing Day in successive seasons for the first time since 2005.

This will be the club's 900th Premier League match.

Gabriel Jesus's goal against Arsenal in the League Cup on Tuesday was his first in 609 minutes in all competitions.

Kevin de Bruyne has yet to score a top-flight goal from open play this season, though he has converted two penalties.

However, De Bruyne has registered 15 Premier League assists in 2020 - at least three more than anyone else. He is three short of his record in a calendar year, last set in 2017.

Sergio Aguero has scored 15 Premier League goals against Newcastle, a competition record for the player of one team against the same opponent.

Newcastle United

Newcastle United have won just once in seven away matches in all competitions, losing three of the last four.

Their 5-1 victory against Stoke City in 2013 is their most recent victory on Boxing Day. They have lost all five subsequent matches on that date.

The Magpies have lost 14 matches overall on Boxing Day and conceded 42 goals - both are Premier League records.

Newcastle boss Steve Bruce is winless in 12 career Premier League matches at Manchester City. His solitary league away triumph in this fixture came with Huddersfield Town in the second tier in 1999.

Callum Wilson is one short of 50 Premier League goals.

Did he get subbed as well before he could an unprecedented PL double hat trick?

He did. I was there and was disgusted Pellers subbed him. Insane, he might have got 7, let alone a double hatrick. What a player.

Yep these are not much, but neither were west Brom, so let's see.
No point in wishing for a proper midfield, we just wont get it. Just be happy with the 3 points.
