MotM v Everton

Postby Beefymcfc » Wed Feb 17, 2021 10:15 pm

3-1 was my score prediction so no real shakes there. What was impressive is the records we’re breaking again and how we’ve gone from so far behind to 10 points in front now the games in -hand are finally sorted. What a team that has come through though, how good have they been? Over 70% possession and 23 shots against a parked bus, it’s ominous.

Very hard to call it tonight, could pick at least 3 or 4 for MotM.

Laporte for me. There was some disgusting people in the match thread saying horrible things about him. I hope he doesn’t read this forum.

Bernie for me. Non stop capped by a very good goal. Rodri played very well and as for that Mahrez goal...

Rodri keeps improving every game.
A few months to understand Pep's systems of play, then we see that he can play ball.

Bernie for me. Been tip top for the last 5/6 games as well.

Mahrez very good as well
Rodri superb as well
And as is the usual, the whole team played for each other and put a real shift in. Team work really is making the dream work

I picked Jesus because his heart was really into this game.

Bernie is class back to his very best.
Now kev is back, who does pep leave out?
Not bernie hopefully. If we could get sergio back near his best we would be even better, much better.

Imagine kevin, Rodri, Gundo, Bernie, Sergio and Foden as the front 'six' with Cancelo chipping in.

Gabby for me, he was everywhere and had great quality on and off the ball. He was fouled constantly and got up and gave it 100%, great game.

I agree with the 1st bit but a note of cution for your optimism...
I watched a City forward line of Lee, Bell, Summerbee, Law & Marsh. A better line up than most top international teams.
We LOST to Wolves in the League Cup final

I just skip your posts usually but realised that it was you that was having a go at Laporte. To be fair, he’s no Kolarov!

He was excellent last game as covered zinchenko consistently at left back. In this game it was not his role to do

Laporte fine for me too. But went for Mahrez. When he's bad he's terrible, when he's good, unplayable.

I'm afraid last night's prize for giving away the ball surely goes to Cancelo.

Hard to pick but I am going for Jesus purely for his 100% effort he seemed to be everywhere giving his all.

The enigma that is Jesus. Kicked to shit last night but got up and cracked on. Ran his balls off, dropping deep to help out. Had two sniffs at goal, second of which he has to hit the target at least with. In a front 3, he offers more and we don't have to rely silely on his goals.
Shout out to Bernie, Rodri and Mahrez

Cancelo and Rodri were brilliant.

Bernie had a great game as did Gab.
Cannot for the life of me understand the grief Laporte is getting from some. He gave the ball away once that I can remember and he certainly wasn't responsible for the goal. Him and Dias kept a team that had just scored 5 against Spurs and 3 at the swamp to hardly a chance. Him and Stones kept Kane and Son quiet on Saturday as well despite some saying they'd definitely score. It's great we've got top options in these positions.

MOTM for me though had to be Mahrez, he was unplayable.
