The “ This is not a normal season narrative “

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The “ This is not a normal season narrative “

Postby Harry Dowd scored » Sat Feb 20, 2021 5:23 pm

Since City went on this excellent run which has resulted in City being ten points in front, I have detected a new narrative amongst the red media, it is the “this is not a normal season” this has culminated with Riechmaster Klopp going public saying “ City would not be so far in front of us in a normal season “
Maybe it is me being paranoid, but it is strange this has only appeared since we went top, I do think this is preparation in case we do win the PL, it will then be established as “not a normal season “ wonder what other fellow blues think?

Spot on observation Harry

But of course last season was just the dippers being the greatest ever blah blah blah

Makes no odds in the scheme of things though. Our name will be on the pot again and nothing will take it away

In the words of a man I have detested, but who now respects City greatly, Mr Keane said:

You've just got to get on with it

Klopp is an excuse merchant. The media was finally cottoning onto the fact and then had to backtrack because his mother died and he got an out.

Sympathy will run thin for him when we do the same next season after we sign a proper striker and his dippers can't keep up.

Of course it's not normal....

We've been unreal, so great it's beyond abnormal. Floppy knows next season we'll get better. Our spine of team is young and will improve, Ederson, Dias, Foden, new young striker and possibly young midfielder to replace Fern and left back. I can't see us having a dip next season like last season, he knows it will take more than Van dick to get them back on track, they're 3 world class players short they can't afford. no one is buying their aging front three for silly mobey. Skint bastards are going backwards

You watch the fucking Sunday media, Oliver (the cunt) Holt will be bleating on about injuries and then there will be the, “ah but Pep has spent more to get a bigger squad “ you watch I could write the headlines now

I can translate that.
City would not be so far in front of us in normal season when we can get our doppie juices, but now, with a pandemic going around, we can't risk taking it because we don't know how our players will respond to it.

I reckon we’ll be rightly lauded as the greatest ever PL team when we lift this title. The world and their aunt can see this.
Only the most deluded will not agree for whatever reasons.
