The quest for the Holy Grail recommences.

The acid test for the Pep/Lillo transformation!
Rock solid defense with additional cover in place when we lose possession converting into a multi faceted attack when possession is regained.

Looking forward to seeing how far that will take us in the CL.

our league form never matters much when it comes to the CL knockout stages, where we seem to forget how to kick a ball. baffling.

I really want us to do well in this competition, just purely to piss off the haters. So just keep it straightforward pep. We have the better players so no need for complication.

This all day long. Just keep the same game-plan surely this is what we have been building up to.
No more fuck-ups with the tactics and if we fuck up collectively, then so be it but stick to what has been working

Yep, as great it is that KDB is back, he looked a tad rusty on Sunday, start with the team that beat both scouse and spud's only with Ruben & Stones as the centre pairing.

Then if the game goes beyond Monchengladbach, then get KDB & Sergio on to blow the cobwebs away.

Fingers crossed

More than a tad, he unbalanced the team - better without him tbh.

Domestically we have either reached a stage where whatever they try to do to us, we are of such a standard that we can beat them.
Alternatively it could be possible that with the failings of the old elite clubs coupled with the rise of City, we may have become acceptable and profitable to those who once tried to stop us.

Now we have to see where we stand on the European stage. Are we good enough to beat the corruption? Or are we now acceptable on the European stage.

I just want to win the CL to shove it up their arse.

We have to be at least 2 goals better off than the opposing team otherwise the fuckduddery by the officials will ensure we lose by a photo finish yet again.

My hope (and it's slip based on our record) is that we are going into this with the best defence in the world. We never looked this good on the back.

I see that, but KDB is a class act, No drop off. Players have reached new standards which is great for us. Not a 1 man team.

I'm fairly sure we created more chances when a lot of the play went through KDB than since he was injured. But we have also seen the team minus Kev step up in a totally convincing way. To me that says we have gained further options as a team - Gundo as a main attacking pivot. The next logical step is can we have both of them working together better than they did before ?

It isnt black and white, it may or may not work as hoped, plus to evolve to be better there is always a gamble. Rodri has taken ages to get up to speed and is now starting to find his feet, Cancelo too.

For Kev and Gundo together to be more than the parts we may have to accept some frustration in performances.

Imo what we are looking for is complete fluidity using any combo of Foden, Gundo, Kev, Bernie running the show. Each of those players is capable of being the main pivot, some combos have worked really well at times.

I think PG is pushing the players to be able to play almost anywhere in any combination and be able to make their own decisions about how and when to do that.
They obviously employ zones on the pitch, but after that it is anything goes, the less Centralisation we have on the pitch the better the fluidity of collective thinking and creativity. So too much going through KDB can make us predictable.

I think the Total football philosophy takes a lot from military battlefield thinking, single objective but all groups able to think on their feet. SAS started that idea no?

You're quite right there John.

We'll only win it when they decide to let us.

We will easily win the tie and will probably win both games. Player for player, position for position, we are the far stronger team
