How many times have we heard this?

I am trying to understand this because is either a world-wide conspiracy against City (no tinfoil hat here) or people are just plain and simple imbeciles.

Example:
This season I've watched City on the local stations. There isn't a game when the commentator doesn't mention money and how much we spent on defense. No game.
Last night the UCL game was on another station, same, how much money Pep invested, how much money, etc.

Then you go and see sports groups, comments, etc - the money subject again pops. Fantastic figures, how we ruined football, but when you show that Rodri is our expensive ever player and we never reached 100 mil for a player, they don't believe you.
Saw it with fans from different countries, different backgrounds, etc.
This must be one of the biggest fake news out there.

So people are that dumb? Or we are actually hated by football fans? Who think we actually built everything on money, when we in fact equaled the game in the finance department and proved on the pitch how good we are?

head-scratching isn't it?

As soon as we were top of the league it was all - “What a great match, City win again. Let’s go back to Dick in the studio who will run you through spend since 2008”

Yep people are that fucking dumb. They'll believe any shit that's fed to them by the red media, the twitterati, facebook wankers, etc. It beats having to think something through logically, examine the facts and come up with their own point of view

the vast majority of people are "sheeple", they will take what they read/hear in the media and accept it. Then they will simply regurgitate it when they feel it necessary.
The media have an agenda, those old G14 clubs have served the medias' profits well for many years and City are challenging that.

But...whatever the media says or prints, it doesn't change reality.
It neither wins nor loses games for us, it neither wins nor loses titles or trophies for us and as much as the media or the football institutions may not like it, when a City captain holds up a cup, it means we have been the best in that competition.

The media can big up the rags and the scousers all they want this season....the fact is they are still 10pts behind us.
Bayern and UeFA can say what they like, but we still won 2-0 last night and look like going through to the next round.
I couldn't give a flying fuck what anyone else thinks about my team, I watch them for my own enjoyment, I know the truth and that is all that matters.

I used to get really wound up by the media, it diminished my enjoyment of my team.
Now, I don't bother with them, neither read nor listen to the shite they spout...and without their shite, I enjoy my team more.

When City hold up the Premier League trophy this year, I will be singing and dancing and enjoying every moment of it.
If the media are crying into their laptops & microphones and if the Sheeple are stamping up & down and angry cos we've finished top, and if the football institutions are weeping into their accounts because it's cost them TV revenue....That's their business, fuck all to do with me and sure as fuck. I won't be letting it decrease my enjoyment nor celebrations

The commentators are incredible, I swear.
They either get all their facts from the SUN or they don't do their homework anymore.

We had this guy here in the 90s, but most of all in the 80s and 70s. Every game was a delight, you could learn what hobbies Gazza had (beside drinking), what was the ref doing in his free time and so on.
He retired from commentating football in 94, after the World Cup after he condemned the killing of Escobar after his own goal. Had a fantastic monologue.

I hope we spend 200 million on Mbappe or Haaland this summer ,preferably 400 million on both of them.

If they are going to hate then I suggest we give them more reasons to hate us more.

It added to my enjoyment when I noted the swamp starting to empty after the 3rd City goal. I iknew the rags were devastated that "Lickle Citeh" were taking their overblown club to the cleaners.
I celebrated as the 4th, 5th and 6th went in and my jubilation was also fuelled by their anger. now they had reason to hate us more and I loved it.

If you tell a lie enough times people accept it as the truth sooner rather than later.

Let people think we've spent big, or more than we have. And when they say the defence cost £xxx million say "I thought it was more" and i hope we spend some more

Conclusion: For Rag fans it is ok if they are the club with the financial muscle but it is not ok if it is any other club
Then there is poor plucky little Liverpool with all that istory who never spend any money - on principal

Utd won things by spending money, so did Chelsea, so did we, so did Liverpool......
But it is only ok for Utd and Liverpool to do this, any other club and they are 'buying' success

Interesting our net spent per trophy is better than Arseholes and Rags and not far off vermins and Chavs.

It would be interesting to compare our spending to the cartel for past 25 years instead of 10, that should make an intesting reading.

About six years ago or so i did a comparison with the rags (& possibly the then top 4) from when Chelsea came into the money , i will see i can dig it out once i have retrieved my old laptop from the office.

Dipper fans in particular love the net spend stats. Presumably because of the daft money Barcelona threw at Coutinho and Suarez which massively distort their figures. And Torres as well who was bought before this table was started but sold after it so that’s another £50M to distort the numbers.

The truer figure is the amount spent per season in relation to turnover. The rags paying £29M for Ferdinand at a time when commercial turnover and sponsorship was a fraction of what it is now would in real terms be far far higher than any transfer we have done. Veron also at around that time was a similar story.

And of course, it’s what is affordable to a club at a particular time. If someone wants this summer to buy both Mbappe and Haaland for example for say, £300+M, then so be it. Let them get on with it and see whether in five they deem it value for money. If it is then great, but look at the financial situation Barcelona now find themselves in. I bet they wish they hadn’t spent over £100m on Coutinho, Dembele and Griezeman now.

We have spent big in the past but it was only to play catch up. Now we have not only caught up, but surpassed the cartel clubs, we are in a position of financial strength where we make a profit each year, have no debt to speak of, have the best training facilities and a well stocked squad and we win trophies. Exactly. And that uses inflation. Not using the transfer fee against the actual turnover of a club, which is more pertinent to what is affordable or not
