Keeping him on the bench in a few matches when we needed him (the last time the rags beat us at home). And finally not renewing his contract when Kun had never indicated that he wants to go. I think it was fan backlash that Pep feared if he had forced him out in his first or second season.
I was thinking at this and what Notts said above and I was wondering how much of liberty pep has when it comes to the squad? There was also a myth he doesn't like Sergio and the other way around, they had multiple moments when he was substituted, etc when they seem they never look eye to eye.
So maybe Pep wanted to sell him because Sergio, let's be honest, it's not a "Pep" player. He did it with Eto'o who was Barcelona's poacher when he went there, so maybe he wanted to get rid, but Khaldoon told him to fuck off, some things have limits and some players are beyond the manager. So they had to co-exist.
That is why I found Pep's tears so odd after that moment with Sergio. They didn't seem right?
Now, what do you think of this (based on last season playing Fern as a CB just to prove a point he needs a CB): What if he played Sterling because he realised he needs to sell him, but the board doesn't want to because Raheem is english + a marketing asset, hence the news about a new contract pending, so he used him to prove a point?
Most likely is not the case, but would anyone be surprised if something as mental as this actually happened?
