Non-City managers you liked

Read what Don Carlo said and I remember he always had fantastic words about us, even from our early days. You never heard he moan about "our money" or other shite.

So what other managers did you like?

I will start:

1. Cloughie
2. Ancelotti
3. Sacchi
4. Guus Hiddink
5. Bobby Robson

Mick McCarthy - a refreshing honesty about him. He knew his limitations and stuck to what he was good at.
Jack Charlton - see above and was superb for Ireland, no one ever seemed to have a bad word about him
Bobby Robson - a true gentleman
Brian Clougn - talked the talk, but boy did he deliver.
Claudio Ranieri - another gentleman who had something about him

There will be others I’m sure

Tommy Doc, for getting the rags relegated, then shagging the physio's wife.

I actually like OGS.
He comes across as an out of his depth and confused but fundamentally decent guy.

And he is doing an absolutely fantastic job for us.

Brian Clough.

Lawrie McMenemy, especially around May 1976.

Bobby Robson.

Eddie Howe seemed a decent sort.

Stan Ternent cos he punched Colin Wanker. I’d pay good money to see that.

Dave Sexton was a decent bloke at a shithouse club. The arseholes fired him after six successive wins.

Graham Taylor was an alright kind of chap.

Bobby Robson
Gus Hiddink
Bielsa
Menotti
Terry Venables
Jim Smith, we lost because we cannot defend we cannot score and the keeper don’t get me started.

Neil Warnock because he’s not scared to tell the truth.
Eddie Howe has always seemed like a decent bloke.

Surprised so many people have said Brian Clough. He was before my time, but every time I’ve seen interviews with him he’s seemed like a total twat.

But he was a marvellous twat.
Before he became an parody of himself.

Before my time also, but I've read a shitload about him and his persona and got hooked.
A really fantastic chap, in my book. I Believe in Miracles must be one of the best sports documentaries I've seen. Speaks volumes of how players really respected him, even Archie Gemmil.

But I agree he was mediocre without Peter Taylor.

Clough was awesome. Loved his interviews.
There's a great discussion you can see on Youtube of when he got the Leeds job with him and Don Revie who had left Leeds for the England job.
Revie hated Clough, Clough just smiled and took the piss and backed up everything he said.

To add to these: Roberto Martinez and Alan Pardew

I've also got a soft spot for Big Sam.

He's so confused he can't work out what accent to use when talking.

I'll raise you an Ian Holloway (on and off the touch line) bouncebackability anyone?

Gordon Strachan another one with a quote or two, he use to show real contempt to interviewers with stupid questions, most entertaining for a rag!!
