Recognition

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Recognition

Postby Bear60 » Sat Mar 27, 2021 4:48 am

If we win the Champions league and maybe the quadruple this season will we finally be recognised by the guttersnipe football media or will they still find some excuse to keep on bigging up their favourites and carry on ignoring our achievements?

Would genuinely love us to win rhe lot as there is no where for anyone to go with that, never been done, never likely unless we do it again. We all know however thar the praise would be grudgingly given and that the articles would mention cash as we are the first club to have wver used cash to build a squad - unlike our dear neighbours where everyone of their squad came through their academy. Chumps league is rhe holy grail and sooner or later we won't be cheated out of it. Another domestic treble is on the cards but that will not get any recognition and will be no doubt "bad for the game"

Can see a scenario where we win another domestic treble, a second in three years after it had NEVER been done before, and the dippers or Chelsea fluke the CL and they are the ones who get all the praise and adulation

The problem we have is that, no matter how we define football as football fans, we are all delusional. Since the formation of the G14 across Europe, it has bit by bit over the years become a money making business worth £billions. That evolution attracted investors in search of maximising profit rather than football people. That in turn attracted other businesses, particularly the media and sponsors who also fed from this and themselves earned £billions.

The G14 set the standard by creating the Chqampions League as a competition that gave them the trough from all of these factions to feed..... and anything that threatened that trough had to be killed off.

Unfortunately it was PSG and City that posed that threat....and as we have seen via UeFA, FFP, and the lies and generally negative press from a media with their own profits tied to that trough, City are held as the enemies of football and whatever we do is only acknowledged grudgingly, often with the attached caviat of financial doping etc.

Whatever City do, has to be recognised as a factual event by the old order and the media but don;t expect anything near adulation. What we can expect is "City only succeeded because we were illegally financially doped, (despite the CAS verdict).
And never forget, we have ruined football by challenging the greed of the old order, their financial patrners and all those others who have risen on their greed and corruption.

No

and yes. End of.

They will never recognise ANYTHING we achieve - I've stopped hoping for better from them so anything they do (or don't) say is irrelevant to me.

We wouldn’t be recognized if our owners eradicated world famine .

It is what it is - we just keep winning and that pisses then off more and more and it’s great to see them spit venom ,week in and week out .
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

Agree. I dont give a shite either, i recognise us! As soon as we got out in front the old narrative started to appear again. Nowhere to be seen last season though.

As it goes I don’t mind the media always putting us down. We as fans know what the score is. Both on the pitch and off it!!!

And it wouldn’t surprise me if Pep has channelled some of this media negativity into a positive with the squad and cemented the us v them mentality that he now has appeared to adopt.

The media can big up the quadruple all they like. I sincerely doubt anyone in our camp is hanging on any word from the media and it has been drummed into them for a few years now of just focusing on the upcoming game, which we seem to do rather well

The media are actually a good way to gauge how much s person actually knows about the game. If anyone you meet simply parrots the shyte they read, they know fuck all and are to be avoided. If they have any ability to think for themselves and an actual opinion with facts to bear it out, they are a proper football fan well worth interacting with. It is easy.

Proper football fans of all clubs know the score.

The begrudgingly credit we get does get on my nerves. It is media denial of the fact we are the best team in England. It also allows the spin to defer the pressure the favoured teams should get, if we dropped off like Klopps lot have it would be open season. So when we are in good shape playing well breaking records are we not deserving of credit.

To be honest, most of the negative City stuff I see, I see n here.
Not because you lot are necessarily negative but because I stopped buying or looking at the sports news a long time ago.
I tend to put televised games on as the teams come out, negating the negative shite from the agenda ridden pundits.
I usually watch the game without commentary. I realised that I don't get any commentary when I attend,so I I don't miss it on TV.
Post match these days we have won, so I occasionally listen to the aftershite with a grin.

Then I have a read on here become informed...much better place.

There’s a couple of pundits that give us credit - Souness has been okay and Jamie Redknapp has talked about us being the best in the world on a number of occasions.
Neville is a cunt, and he will only say something nice about us when he literally can’t think of anything negative to say - and he’ll follow it up with a comment on how much we’ve spent. Made me sick when people on here were up his arse saying how unbiased he is.

The narrative has already been written to deny us credit for anything we achieve this season
Biggest squad
Unlimited wealth
Best players (an odd one it has too be said)
We'd be shit without money. Etc etc

Expect a ton of derision when part of the quadruple they fear us getting, slips away from us.
Funny how nobody said we had the best players and team last September. Then, we hadn't bought well enough nor addressed our shortcomings. The plucky scousers were far ahead of us apparently.
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

There are times when that would be perfect Johnny.
I wonder if there's a bus service direct to the Etihad?

No doubt just out of that shot is a shopping mall with a Tesco Extra and a car park for several hundred cars, just to fuck it up.

I don't think so, but do we actually care?

The media will give us recognition when we will start pumping money into them and I hope we will never do that.
Let them talk as much as they want, who has a mind and can read between the lines will always know how BIG we've become.

Fuck them.

We didn't get proper recognition in the Centurions season. I was watching the last couple of episodes of the Amazon documentary at the weekend and the minute we went out of the Champs League to the dippers there was so much negativity from the media towards "this group of players" despite everything that could go wrong over the 2 legs going wrong. I forgot just how bad it was until watching that. Onside goal given offside at Anfield and blatant pen not given followed by the wrongly disallowed goal at home on the stroke of half time that would have put us 2-0 up. Despite that, 100 points. The highest in history and achieved in stoppage time on the last day. Unbelievable.

The next year for me was even better. 98 points and having to win 14 in a row at the end to beat a team on 97 whilst winning the Domestic Treble in the process. Never been done before and the fact we're in with a chance of doing it again or surpassing it is even more unbelievable.

If this was the rags or the dippers we would never have heard the end of it.
