The Problematic Ego

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The Problematic Ego

Postby zabbadabbado » Sun May 30, 2021 12:16 pm

Biggest night in our Club history.

And Pep made it all about him and his fucking Ego.

Inexplicably picking a system, and side, that he had never ever even picked before as manager.

For only the second time ever, choosing to play with no defensive midfielder against a counter attacking side in a major European Final.........really ?

watches the game drift by, we were lucky not to be 2,3, goals down at half time.

And still he made no changes. The first change was the enforced substitution of KDB on 64 minutes.

I am not having it, that he thought things didn't need changing.

What was really going on in his Head last night ?

Did he fear City becoming European Champions would put his huge over inflated Ego in to a shadow ?

No longer just lucky to have him as our manager. But deserving of him.

It felt like he sabotaged any chance we had last night in Porto. And i can not help wondering why this afternoon.

Maybe he likes being Billy Big Bollocks, everyone kissing his arse, and telling him how grateful we are to have him and his genius at the Club.

It should have been our moment to shine.

He made sure we didn't turn up at what should have been our own party.

And i am left wondering why ?

Why would you change a winning, record breaking system that took you all the way to the Final in Porto ?

Why would you play with out our most influential DM fernandinho in such a big game ?

Why would you play an unused/unproven system the players were unfamiliar with. Leaving them all over the fucking place.

Egotistical narcists love to be the center of attention.

Today everyone is talking about Pep rather than City as European Champions.

I am sure he will remind us later how lucky we are to still have him.

No pressure on him by our owners and when you work under those kind of conditions you will make decisions, even if they raise eyebrows, without blinking an eye.

Due to the above ,we will never win the CL with PeP as our manager.

I think you are right.

He is untouchable.

I doubt he will even be asked about his team selection ,let alone ever held accountable.

Don’t be so fecking daft!! Who could replace him and please let’s not do our usual city fan stance and say Zabba or Vinny or merlin. We wo t ever win it without him. Had his tinkering worked to day he would be the worlds greatest ! But it did not and we are all passed off down and very very deflated. BUT YOU KNIW WHAT WE ARE CITY AND WE WILL COME AGAIN AND AGAIN BECAUSE THIS MAY FEEL TODAY LIKE TYPICAL CITY BUT ITS NOT. ITS NEW CITY AND IT WILL HAVE UPS AND DOWNS BUT I AM CITY TILL I DIE , ARE YOU?? WE WILL GO FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH!!!
YOU DON'T PICK CITY , CITY PICKS YOU AND WHEN IT HAS!! NO MATTER HOW BAD IT GETS NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES YOU SAY THATS IT NO MORE NO SEASON TICKET IF YOU HAVE BEEN CHOSEN BY THE BLUE MIST THE ONLY TIME YOU STOP BEING BLUE IS WHEN YOU DIE!!
IF YOU ARE LUCKY IN YOUR ERA OF BEING BLUE YOU WILL SEE SUCESS IF NOT HEARTBREAK EITHER WAY YOU WILL BE BLUE. ITS JUST THE WAY IT IS!!!!

I don't get this who will replace pep stuff, like he is the only manager we could ever have. What's that about, really. Everyone else is shite and he's the only one? Hahahah such bollocks.
Well he will leave and we will have to replace him, that is a fact.

I am sure there are many good pragmatic managers out there who could do quite well with the best squad on the planet. And the financial clout to improve said squad even further.

Well, he has too much power and that, always, corrupts. I am not sure anyone dares challenge him, right up to and including Khaldoon. I have no proof of that but it does appear that he is literally given everything.

This season, we won 2 pots including the biggest one, the 38-game PL marathon. Reached one more final and a semi-final in which he made 9 changes to accommodate the CL.

It's an extraordinary achievement really. But, he definitely fucked up with the team selection, no doubt.

You know what , I’ve been a blue all my life I lived and breathed City and since my first game in Dec 1964 I have lived the pain the ups the downs and the deepest downs . In that time all around me no one is ever satisfied it’s unbelievable and in the last 30 years we have had to endure that lot over the road 25 years of Fergie and it has fucking hurt more than imaginable . Last night we were in the European cup final on the back of a season with two trophies a re invention of our team a third of the way in that proved to be one hell of a tactical change . In the last ten years trophy after trophy and for the last five years the best manager in the world and he will prove it!! Shit it’s disappointing but it will work out , yes be annoyed with Pep he got it wrong had it of been right he would of been a good today and you all know that is true ,the fine line is finer than VAR offside hairline used . Did not send first post to start a division that is the issue that has always bogged down City , together and belief it what is needed now. The name MCFC is what we live for and I would not change the last ten years for anything it has so put the previous 30 years hurt well and truly to bed!!!! CTID

The only comfort I saw last night was Khaldoon with a face like thunder on the presentation pedestal whilst the medals were being given out.

Nobody is bigger than the club , in six months Tuchel has won the prize the owners have wanted since day one and they have given Pep 5yrs of anything he needs to achieve this.

They are no mugs , Sheik Mansour will not be a happy man and nor he should be.

going on about pep ffs . Chelsea got lucky because John Stones didn't hold the line and they scored from it .

Also because those players that are being paid big bucks didn't turn up . Ffs Ed gave Sterling a golden chance and what did he do ?

Peps "Ego" ? come on .

If the owners don’t mind winning domestically every couple of years then the answer is no but if they want CL then yes as Pep will never ever win this competition with his mindset.

They could have had 4. We barely had a real chance. Chelsea didnt even need to get lucky, thats one of the most frustrating parts.

This is it - we were lucky that Chelsea were so poor last night, it could have been a rugby score but their shooting was woeful

This is another annoying thing.

In the 3 recent games with Chelsea, I still don't see anything from them that we should be worried about.

If we played our normal game, with our best 11, we'd have won. Instead we've handed them 3 victories due to our own screw-ups.

This CL final is by far the worst though. After playing so well to get to the final, it really seemed that Pep had learnt from the previous 4 seasons. But he hasn't learnt a thing. I think it's reasonable to say we won't win a CL with him. There's no doubting he's a phenomenal manager but he clearly has issues with this competition.

The sad thing is he built a fantastic system this season and it took apart everyone we faced. After our slow start to the season he has to take full credit for turning things around. Yet for some reason he didn't think it was good enough to beat 4th placed Chelsea who finished 19 points behind us. It's incredible really.

It would certainly appear that the two defeats in the FA Cup and PL altered his thought process for the team selection for the CL.
Tuchel clearly got under his skin even though it wasn't a full strength side we put out on either occasion and it should have been Tuchel worrying about us.

That's strange as surely his backroom staff would pull him up on it

I thought at the time it was a terrible line up for a cup semi final and it has now come back to bite us
