When is our first game next season likely to be?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

When is our first game next season likely to be?

Postby MARKMAKAVELI » Mon Jun 07, 2021 11:54 am

I know fixtures aren't out until 16th June but my dad reckons it's likely to be the Sunday 15th August.

Anyone got any ideas? Trying to plan some stuff. Cheers

Community Shield is Saturday 7th August at Wembley meaning the season starts the following week.
We get the fixtures in the next week or so but then have to wait for tv changes.

Yep so they both confirm what I thought, but do we know where my dad's got the idea we're likely to be a Sunday game? Is it because if we've played in the community shield we get an extra day to recover?

He's got the idea as they always show the Champions live on Sky 1st game no matter who they're playing but it could be Friday night, Saturday or Sunday. Nobody knows yet, the Community Shield is the previous Saturday so that won't affect it.

Is it not the case that the Champions usually play the first game of the season?

Don't think so- just definitely showed live.
1st game 18/19 was away at Arsenal on the Sunday.
1st game 19/20 was away at West Ham Saturday.
