5 PL titles - favourite?

Postby nottsblue » Sat Jun 12, 2021 3:47 pm

We have now won 5 PL titles in the last decade.

Which is your favourite and why?

2011/12 - needs no introduction. Agueroooooo, the 6-1 at the swamp and the first for 44 years

2013/14 - a very strong showing in Pellers first season. Saw off the dippers, scored 100+ goals and played some amazing football

2017/18 - centurions. Broke a whole host of records as we blew everyone out of the water as we strolled to the title with an unheard of 100 points

2018/19 - treble winners and became the first side for ages to retain the title. Once again saw off the dippers to win it by winning an almost impossible last 14 games

2020/21 - another stroll to the title with loads more records tumbling.

My favourite is possibly 18/19. To win 14 games to win the title by a point from being 10 points behind in January whilst also winning the two domestic cups was just staggering. The intensity and focus that we had was incredible and is likely never to be repeated.
But all five campaigns in the PL were fantastic, which is as you’d expect as to win the thing you have to have had a decent campaign, so all of them have there respective merits and I’d imagine all will be favourites for posters for different reasons

18/19 was pure poison, but it’s still my favourite I think. Just the way we did it. I wouldn’t want to go through that again though.

11/12 for several reasons.
Our first PL, confirmed a changing of the guard, the manner of the win 93:20, pipping the Rags.

Wonderful.

It's close between 11/12 and 17/18 for me, the Centurions season was so special but our 'recent era' breakthrough with all the drama of that last game of the season just edges it.

Gotta be the first. So many memories from that season. Watching us blow the Community shield on a family holiday in Lanzarote. Aguero's debut on our first night back. Hammering Spurs who had caused me so much misery previously. The absolute elation of the win at the swamp. The win at QPR before taking my 4 year old to a Bonfire. The Clattenburg stitch up at Stamford Bridge. Thinking it was game over after Arteta's winner. Watching Aguero and Tevez tear Norwich a new one before departing to Australia. Cheering Everton on whilst watching with my rag niece, nephew and bro in law in Brisbane. Meeting Dazby for the Derby at the Pig and Whistle. Waking my mates two kids in Sydney when Yaya beat Newcastle. Going from "typical City" to absolute shock in the final two minutes v QPR in my local. Wife and her mate meeting Bobby Manc after the parade..... then breaking her foot.

Great days.

11/12 will likely never be topper for me. We had a bit of everything that season and the scum as our main rival made it even more sweet. So many of my now all time fav football memories came from that season.

6-1, that Silva assist, Mancini shit eating grin and the scum meltdown.

That Norwich game. Tevez and Aguero were unplayable.

Aguero debut.

QPR needs no explanation, but hearing the words describe how the title was won on goal difference and those goals came from the 6-1.

Kompany was amazing. Yaya a beast. Silva, Aguero, Zaba, Micah, Hart, Gaz Baz.
Tracking back is overrated.
