Breaking: Brian Kidd is set to leave #ManCity - he is not retiring and wants to remain in football if the right opportunity arises.

Brian Kidd:

"It has been a privilege to be part of such an exciting chapter in this club’s history. I can only thank Pep, Roberto and Manuel for their leadership during a period of huge change and challenges for everyone involved here. I hope to have offered them enough help and support along the way to have made a difference and played a small role in the different teams’ successes. Having also played for Manchester City, it was very special to return and throughout the last 12 years I have felt the warmth of the leadership, the staff and of the fans throughout. I am incredibly grateful to all of them. I would also like to say what an honour it has been to witness the evolution of the club under the stewardship of Sheikh Mansour and leadership of Khaldoon Al Mubarak. I am a Manchester man, and the work that has been done to improve the City of Manchester and the local community is fantastic. I wish only the best for Manchester City moving forwards."

Pep Guardiola:

"Brian Kidd is a legend in this country. Not only for what he has done here at Manchester City, but at other clubs throughout his incredible career. He has been so important to me during my time at the club, and I am sure to Roberto and Manuel also. He has so much respect in our dressing room, from myself, my coaches and most importantly the players. His experience has helped us to achieve something very special during his time here and I speak for everyone at Manchester City when I thank him for everything he has done."

Weird, if so. He is quite old, I was thinking that was about it.
We need to replace him.

Top man, sounds like he had to make way though - still at only 72 he should find another berth somewhere if he wants one :D

Good luck, Kiddo, and thanks or everything.

He was in the first City team I saw in the seventies. Fantastic to have had him at the club again.

Same here, but I did see him play at Maine road for rags v City in the youth cup in the sixties, he was a lot bigger and more powerful than the other lads, scored if I remember rightly.
I wonder why he is leaving, he must be pushing seventy, so you would think his options would be limited, anyway wish him all the best in the future

Sad news. But the very best of luck to him, a proper football man in the true sense.
Looking for new challenge, interesting to see what that might be.

Brian Kidd:

"It’s been a sobering 18 months. You only have to look at the families who have lost loved ones to see that. And football has not been the same with the restrictions. The time was right to step aside. I have nothing but huge gratitude to #ManCity. People will always try to put two and two together and look for hidden agendas but I give you my word there is nothing untoward. I’ve had 12 wonderful years with three great managers, and being a local lad it has meant the world to me. But recent times have not been the same. I’m 72, Colin has just passed away, and then there was Tony and Nobby … so many."

He’s been a great servant and a total gent, the fact that the high quality managers here wanted him in their team speaks volumes of his talent - We will miss him I reckon

Sounds like he wants to spend more time with the family, after naming people who have passed. Might be better at a local lower league club with less demand on his time.

Good luck to him.
