Accordingly to Fabrizio Romano we did bid £150M but Spurs refused it.
I reckon a lot of fall out from this for Spurs.
No player will trust Levy and every contract negotiation will be detailed and painful, Kane cannot be a happy bunny and that will affect the squad at some point, the Spurs fans will be quick to have a go at him if he hits a bad run of form and can Spurs really afford to say no to +£120M with an £800M debt, etc... He is also an injury risk. Spurs cannot rotate him. That increases the likelihood of him getting injured.

So from a Levy perspective he is taking a huge gamble IMO.

We needed Kane, but in a way I am happy it did not go through. The price was to high for a 28 year old with a history of injuries.
The problem for us is that we do not appear to have a plan B.

Not paying £150m for a player like Kane - City only come away from this looking good imo.

Agree, to me it sends the message we won't be fucked over and pay over the odds.

That boat sailed boys when we bought Jack. We need a 30 goal man everyone knows it. 8 weeks on we still need one, it’s not the 1st time.

We’ve won the league numerous times without a 30 goal man though mate. I don’t think we’re as desperate as other fans are making out.

On the plus side we won't have to put up with every commentator and pundit bleating on about £150M every two minutes during matches

Until last season we could rely on Kun for approx 20 goals a season. We miss bucket loads of clear cut chances and do not have a clinical finisher or a focal point in attack. This has cost us dearly in the past. Last season e got away with it. Unlikely that we will get away with it again this season.

We’re likely not going to go on a mental run from December to Feb either. Time will tell. Pep is the best manager in the world we’re told - let’s see what he does.

Not getting him will turn out good for us in the idea I think we dodged a bullet.

But still we need some.

Why don't we give a chance to Ferran Torres, his finishing seems quite good to me, can only get better with more game time.

So he isn't now coming

Good.

It may well have been beneficial for a season or two but longer term would have been poor business IMO. It had a feel of it similar to the rags paying big money at the time for RVP.

We shall see if we have an alternative lined up. And if we don't, then we shall see whether we play a similar style to last season, which to be fair was damned successful, or whether we play either Torres or Delap or Jesus as a central striker. Who knows, we may even play two up top with a different formation

But as for Kane? A bullet dodged in the end game

What a shock....

Not really.

Can still see us signing in the winter window or next summer for less.

Other likely options:

Haaland (more difficult but not impossible) or Lewandowski (I think we'd be his #1 choice as already said wants PL and has played with Pep).

I love Pep, but did he back us into a corner with what we hear about "Kane or bust?"

Not sure what else we could have done TBH.

Also not so sure about the criticisms of Levy as sure fire bets.

He kept his star player. No Kane and team is far less marketable and interesting even if particularly unlikely to win silverware.

Prepare for potential disappointment as nowhere certain Haaland will be who we most likely sign.

Kane still #1 likely to me, but will be more competition possibly.

I'd rate Lewandowski a bit higher likely than Haaland, but issue is Klopp/Liverpool are the other competition possibly. United 3rd.

Will be another drawn out drama but a much tidier fit . Class young forward but Raiola is a first class cunt !

This is going to be something we need to solve sooner rather than later.
After this refusal we won't go again, Haaland is never going to happen so what is next for us?

What is our next direction in a market that is lacking world class strikers like it once had.

Oh well, in summary i feel we have swerved one with missing out on Kane, age and pace were the negatives for what would have been a massive fee to get him . Levy has now got an unhappy striker on his hands. We can invest elsewhere. During the saga the young lad Vlahovic cropped up and he looks to be a better deal. On the other hand if we were going to spunk £150 m plus i'd be setting sights on Haaland and getting Ronaldo for a season or two if it were possible
