Stones - New Contract

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Stones - New Contract

Postby Mase » Tue Aug 10, 2021 10:01 am

John Stones has signed a new five-year contract to commit his future to Manchester City.

“I couldn’t be happier,” Stones said. “I love being part of this squad. There are so many quality players here and I know we can continue winning trophies, which is my main focus.

“Working with the manager is a dream – he has taught me so much about the game and I feel like I learn something new every single day.

“The success we’ve had in the last four years has been incredible. To be a part of it has been a dream come true and I just want to continue winning.

“This is the best place for me to play my football and fulfil my ambitions.”

Well deserved.

He scored with his cock in the swamp.
Of course he deserves a new contract.

I hope his new contracted wages are structured to be reduced if his form takes a dive to previous levels.

Laporte's bottom lip now hits the deck. Fair play to Stones iwould have been happy to see him gone the way he was.

Sounds like he's still quite happy with Pep.
Grealish calling him the best manager in the world as well. What's the matter with them, do they not read this board.

Cant really see Grealish coming out and saying Pep is a daft bald twat, not anytime soon anyway.

As for JS great news. Lets hope he has another good season.

Can't really see him saying that, granted but there's plenty of big signings who don't wank over the manager in their first interview.
Didn't hear Sancho or Fernandez saying they couldn't turn down the chance to play for Ole.

There’s plenty of players that will happily rip shreds off Pep. Some that play for us at the moment. Let’s not go down that road and turn this thread negative.

It’s about a player that’s done really well signing a new contract.

Fair play to stones, this time last year i hadnt written him off and expected him to rock up at Newcastle.

Lets hope his current form is the norm and not an anomaly.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Agreed great turnaround in form and deserved a new deal - from what I understand there were off the pitch issues and these seem to be sorted. Long my John continue to flourish as he is a genuinely good footballer.

Having Dias next to him is massive too remember Otter with and without Vinny? Horrendous...

Looks like Pep isn’t happy with him. Made a remark about how he was injured with us but then went and played 90 minutes for England and is back to being injured.

Didn’t sound happy and I agree. If he wants to fuck around with his mates on England duty but then not play for City he can fuck off. He’s got his new contract now though hasn’t he..

Both him and Laporte out for tomorrow btw.

The thought that we needed John Stones yesterday didn't cross my mind once?

Stones was class last season, especially in the ‘big’ games. Laporte seems to be great against most opposition, but I’ve noticed in some of the bigger games he doesn’t play as well. I think with the games coming thick and fast the past week, we could have done with swapping Stones and Laporte for some of the games as Laporte is just coming back from injury.

Not sure if that’s the same as what PP’s opinion is.

Agree with all of this.
When fit, Stones is a big game player and he works better, imho, with Ruben. Their bromance was last year was spectacular.
Laporte, like Nool pointed in the game thread, looks very nervous when there is pressure and he had his share of big mistakes in key moments.
I think, at the moment, Walker - Stones, Dias - Cancelo, is the best defense in the world.
