PL results in December so far:
P 5, W 5, goals for 17, goals against 2.
Bet the other teams are glad we're shit at finishing the chances we create! Get that striker signed ASAP...

Pep is the greatest. If he can win the "best league" in the world without a genuine striker then there can be no doubts about the guys influence on the game.

the issue is in big games when we get fewer chances and our profligacy in front of goal comes back to bite us

These big games you're talking about are Palace and Southampton.
Everyone struggles against teams with 10 men behind the ball. Dippers last minute win at Wolves, Chelsea 0-0 with them.
Should Tottenham have a finishing thread with Son, Kane and Alli yesterday.

Apparently, unless we're scoring from 110% of our chances we're shit at finishing. No idea how we've managed to fluke the most top flight goals in a calendar year in PL history, in fact, since as far back as 1963......

Every team in existence could have a finishing thread cos every team misses chances. It's what happens when humans are involved, strangely enough. Otherwise every match would end up with a rugby score! The fact we constantly outscore all other teams over the course of a season tells me that, despite the odd howler, we're not doing too badly. And that's good enough for me.

You can only play what's in front of you. This month it was Leeds & Newcastle's turn. Genuine question: which are the "big games" you talk about? Do you mean the other members of the "big 6"? We've beaten Chelsea, Scum and Leicester away, drew away at Candlepool, thrashed the Arse at home. Only blip was Spuds away first game of the season, when we were well under-prepared and had no pre-season after most of the squad were still getting over international duty.

Exactly.

The reasons given for having such a thread means there should also be a concession thread, or goals against.

Then every time we conceded the person who made the thread could give an "I told you so" post.

We’ve all said we could be more clinical. All teams say that. Also pep will always strive for improvement so that’s no surprise.

But what NT is saying is different imo

My own opinion is that we score a shit load, which is amazing. Who would have thought we’d be smashing teams by 7 back in the day. Mental really growing up seeing City get beat 4 or 5 by Arsenal and now we’re beating them by the same margins.

But I do feel we miss some sitters a lot of the time. Usually the same players. Can’t help but feel if we had a Kane or Haaland against Southampton and Palace we’d have beaten them. Just someone that puts the ball in the back of the net.

I don’t know whether it’s because I’ve still got that ‘Typical City’ mentality that even when we’re two or three up I’m super nervous, so I want us to put teams to the sword ASAP. I don’t want more pressure put on my heart

Yes, of course Pep agrees with you. I can clearly remember him saying, when interviewed after the 7-0 drubbing of Leeds, that we have a finishing problem, exactly as stated by NT on a certain City fan forum... Some people will never be happy with the football this fantastic team is producing. Makes me think they'll never be happy in life, poor sods.

This is Nigel's embarrassing attempt at a wind up guys. He goes to this thread to show everyone his lack of understanding about the game. We've all made the arguments but he makes no concession.

It’s an interesting debate.

We do score loads cos of Pep’s genius and high quality of our players.

But just cos we score loads doesn’t necessarily mean our conversion rate is high.
