Manchester City can confirm that following his being charged by police today, Benjamin Mendy has been suspended pending an investigation.
The matter is subject to a legal process and the Club is therefore unable to make further comment until that process is complete.

I’m sure we can terminate his contract but it might be necessary to wait for a trial and possible conviction. Important not to prejudge the outcome.

He’s been remanded in custody. Presumably he’ll apply for bail which he might or might not get.
