It's the same with the PFA Player of the year- there's a team of the year, a shortlisted top 6 and the winner.
With this there's a number of awards - goalie, defender, playmaker, striker and then there's the top award.
If Messi won as we all think because of the Spanish vote, the South American vote etc then it makes Kev's award even more impressive imo.

But if he didn't win the "best" award for his position, how can he be best overall? Makes no sense.
