The Curious Case of Raheem Sterling

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The fact that we still debate what Sterling brings to the team and whether he has run his course here, after seven seasons with us tells you everything you need to know.

He has previously been instrumental in our success and no one could deny he has given his all. But these last few seasons he has not kicked on and indeed has arguably regressed.

Did he over achieve when he was scoring 20+ a season? Possibly, but he hasn't built on it.

Has he missed having a recognised forward as a focal point and to feed off? Probably, but his shooting boots are seemingly lost as is a bit of confidence

I doubt we will sell him as I think he will run his contract down. Hopefully if we get a proper forward in we might see a difference next season though I shan't hold my breath

In my opinion it’s 100% psychological and amazes me that in 2022 we seemingly aren’t investing enough in this side of the game, if Sterling needs a £100k a year shrink to get the best out of him then it’s money well spent.

I know someone who provides a domestic service to him and they say he’s so lazy and thoughtless. He doesn’t live in our world. Not particularly his fault but he needs support with his life

No psychologist can improve his one on one's. He can only do it himself on the training ground . Don't even need a real goalie either .

Time to move him on, not a game changer anymore and certainly not a one on one scorer bit like Jesus.

His Ball control is astonishing.

He is reminiscent of a "Pin" in a Pin-Ball Machine.

Ball goes to him, you have no idea where it will end up.

He breaks up so many attacks and starts counters against us.

He has been shit for 2 seasons.

Unfortunately i don't see him going anywhere soon. My understanding is he has told the Club "you don't pay what i want,. Parity with KDB "Then i will happily see out my contact and go on a free transfer.

Let us be honest who other than Mugs like Newcastle or Everton would buy him ?

By the way ,what happened to your responses in the match thread ? they suddenly dried up and you fucked off sharpish when it became apparent every other poster was on a PeP rant after that debacle.

I think we need to accept he is bang average, even with his record.
He is going into his 7th year here and he failed to score vs the rags and step up in key critical games.

I think we've lost a European final because of him and the benefits from the favoritism Pep shows towards him.

And I also think his decline was caused because he was played wrong on the left side.

I also think that he will stay and if we get who we want I can see Jesus being the more likely to move on as we'll have more than enough options in the front three.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

What made me laugh was a cunt like you thinking you have it all sussed out mate.

That's all.

And please, I've asked several times, stop worrying about how often I choose to post on this forum.

The fact you live on it does not mean you have any kind of ownership rights.

You're like the old drunk cunt at the end of the bar shouting that you own the place because you're there every day and everyone else who disagrees should get the fuck out.

So I'll treat you as such.

An irritating, loud but sad cunt.

(And I know you think saying "I told you so" is boring, but it's a lot safer than trying to spell something harder, so perhaps best to stick with it ;) )

Have a lovely evening Carl

Manchester City and England forward Raheem Sterling, 27, is on a list of players AC Milan want to sign amid reports of a potential £850m takeover of the 18-time champions of Italy.

Dont know if its been mentioned on here before but I've heard someone say, cant remember who. That Sterling would do better if we had a traditional focal point centre forward, Sergio, Kane, Haaland type who would work and occupy the centre backs better than false 9 system currently does. Theory is Sterling would be under less pressure to score and play more in his more familiar wider role? Most city fans have always felt that he was better on the right, but more often than not he has been shifted left to accommodate Mahrez (who has been excellent this season) Sterling has no focal point along side him central as our false 9 can end up literally anywhere in the attacking half of the pitch.

I seem to remember him being very good when we had a settled Sane left, Sergio centre and Sterling right. Our front 3 move around and rotate a lot more now and just maybe it doesn't suit him at all.
Not my theory, someone else's.

But its probably fair to say his demise has correlated with our loss of strikers, Sergio, and Jesus turning into something we do not need.
