It is with the deepest sadness that we have to announce that our baby boy has passed away," Ronaldo's statement read. "It's the greatest pain any parents can feel.

"Only the birth of our baby girl gives us the strength to live this moment with some hope and happiness. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses for all the care and support.

"We are all devastated at this loss and we kindly ask for privacy at this very difficult time. Our boy, you are our angel. We will always love you."

Absolutely agree, our lad is 17 and every minute he's out I still worry.

To lose a child that young must be earth shattering beyond belief.

My thoughts are with both parents, an absolute tragedy that I doubt they will never recover from.

RIP

Things like this transcend football. As a footballer probably like most others on here I am not very fond of him. However that's harrowing stuff to deal with and I wish him, his wife and family all the best.
Nothing more can be said really.

Not just as a footballer mate, as a human being the guy is a piece of shit rapist. But still, like I said, you wouldn’t wish this on your worst enemy.

It's been 34 years for me now, we had twins the girl lasted about 3 hours, the boy about 18 hours. Basically they were very early and both weighed a fraction over 2 pounds each.

The hospital were very helpful, but I still had to register the births in order to get death certificates issued which was really shit conversation with the registrar. No idea if things have been made easier so that people don't still have to go through that.

Our families were great helping with the funeral eyc and we were both allowed time from work for a few weeks.

Counselling was offered but only by volunteers I.e. people who had been through it themselves and my other half refused to go with me. We eventually split up about a year later, things got horrible at the end because she wasn't functioning properly. I do know she is OK now and went on to have her own family as I have too.

It does get easier with time, but always think of them especially on landmark birthday's etc.

That was tough just to read, never mind having to live with it, good for you that have managed to overcome that, all the best to you and your family.
