For the first leg of the CL then someone will have to do a job at RB. Egan-Riley has travelled with the squad a few times and is supposed to be a mirror image of Walker. Get him in!

Cancelo is suspended due to card totting up

Yep, that’s my second paragraph mate.

Indeed it is, must pay more attention!!
If Stones is crocked then we may have an issue. Id agree despite his age, Egan-Riley plays the role big ask in a chumps league semi but looking around what are the options other than a 3 man cb setting plus zinch and drop someome back as a right wingback?

Can't play Egan-Riley against opposition as experienced and good as Real. He would be targeted and would probably make fatal errors.
We saw what happened to Steffen.

I’m sure Rooney playing against a top Arsenal side when he was 18 was thought of as crazy, but he scored a wonder goal that set his career off.

If a defender makes a mistake it will likely result in a goal.
If an attacker makes a mistake it will likely result in losing possession.

I can’t agree. Maldini made his debut at 16 for Milan. I’m sure there’s tons of defenders over the years that have come through young. If we don’t have any other RB then it’s got to be him. We’ve invested millions and millions into this academy - they should be available for emergencies.
Cancelo will be back from suspension for the Bernabeu. I look forward to us soundly thrashing Madrid at home without a recognised centre forward, right back or left backnottsblue wrote:Mase wrote:Dimples wrote:Mase wrote:There’s no saying Egan-Riley would shit his pants against Real. I think I agree Mase.
The team selection should form a logical pattern. Four at the back? 2FB and 2 CB? Who is unavailable? Walker and Cancelo. Stones would be the cover as it leaves Laporte and Dias as the CB pairing, but if he is out injured then we have a problem. Fern might the next default but that is a non starter for me for a variety of reasons, not least lack of pace and a possible walking red card.
Therefore the logical step is to put the best reserve FB is as cover. If that is Egan-Riley then so be it. Play Bernardo wide right so he can help him out with cover so as not too leave him too exposed. It isn’t ideal but it’s the situation we are in. The young lad might be nervous but equally he will be absolutely stoked to get his chance. And Walker isn’t getting any younger. This lad will have played the way Pep wants for the youth sides for as long as he’s been at City so you’d think at some point he would get the chance to prove himself.
Ideally this wouldn’t be in a CL semi at the Bernabeu, but as the song goes, if he can do it there he can do it anywhere.
Fern would be the supposed safe option and I’d strongly argue it would be completely the wrong option. Therefore logic dictates to go with the young lad
