View from the Away End

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

View from the Away End

Postby CuteMancs » Sat May 21, 2022 4:47 pm

I was not at that fateful game in 2012. I was living in London at the time and could only afford to go to a few games. I picked the derby over the last game of season. Hopefully tomorrow will make up for that and I will have something to celebrate at 6pm at the Etihad! The away fans are not confident for a few reasons, not least the choice of the kit. I am beyond nervous, and I will be until Pep picks our best team. He will do that, won’t he?

COME ON CITY!!!

Referee: Michael Oliver
Assistants: Stuart Burt, Simon Bennett
Fourth official: David Coote
VAR: Darren England
Assistant VAR: Adrian Holmes

Team Selection

Martinez
Cash Chambers Mings Digne
McGinn Tim Ramsey
Coutinho Buendia
Watkins

And the rest…

The Man City one shouldn't be a problem.

Aside from preventing Jack from winning the league, why would the players care if City or Liverpool win?

The less trophies oil money can buy the better. If City lose, it would mean they broke the league transfer record on a player and still failed to win a single trophy this season.

Im going for a villa shock lead before we shit ourselves concede and few minutes later and lose 5-1 in typical villa fashion.

4-0 Man City. Anybody expecting us to cause a massive upset is deluded. Not in our DNA.

Twelvety - nil to Man City.

I think this could be bad maybe even embarrassing since its on the TV. I think if City score early it could be 5 or 6…Grealish to get a 88th minute cameo.

Gerrard will try hard and park the bus up there (if we can!).

We need a better bus.

Lawro's predicting 3-0. His last ever round of predictions, he's retiring from it after 20 years.

Sadly can’t see much other than 4-0 or 5/0 home win.

They will score early and keep the ball for the rest of the game so a boring game with no excitement about the title.

Hope we don't embarrass ourselves, don't want City to win the league, but equally would hate Liverpool to win the quad - I think it will all play out pretty straightforward on Sunday with both teams scoring early and winning at a canter (especially City).

I’m so utterly convinced we’ll get absolutely demolished and humiliated, I’m not even sure I can bring myself to watch the game.

We last won there in the league in 2007…Our Old Trafford record is definitely better.

If they get the expected win no way do I want the Villa players to do a guard of honour for them. They and their oil funded billions can quite frankly go f**k themselves…We should just put our replica 82 cup on the pitch and walk out…Form is temporary, class my friends is permanent.

FFS that bastard 3rd kit being used. The bloodbath we will endure is going to be unbearable. Surely we could have played in white…I’m fearing it could be 6/7.

The third kit? Might actually give this game a pass.

I’m still hoping for my dream scenario. We beat Man City 1-0 and then Liverpool concede an injury time equaliser to lose out on the title on goal difference...Admittedly that’d mean City win the title but it’d be palatable (just).

They’re going to batter us, aren’t they?

I have this sneaky feeling that with enough motivation by Gerrard and by pure grit, determination and hard work, blood sweat and tears...we are going to lose this one.

I think we should be done for fixing the title race now that we’ve elected to wear the cursed third kit.

If Liverpool knew what that kit means they would be filing a complaint already.

Playing in white might have reminded them of Real Madrid!

So Michael Oliver who is a Newcastle fan will be reffing this. If we were to somehow win this it would potentially put us above Newcastle in the table. Reassuring to know that this is not considered a conflict of interest by PGMOL.

Sadly, imo we are going to get hammered. Greedish is also probably going to score. Reason to be cheerful: This season is nearly over.

Would be impressive if we managed to take a point or a win. But if we don't then Liverpool doesn't get the title which would be great.

We’ll essentially be playing against 13 players, eleven of which are vastly superior footballers, one is the referee and the last being them playing for the title…Go team!

I’ve just about had it anyway, with Liverpool fans adopting Villa as their second team, acting like we have some kind of special bond now we have ‘their’ Stevie in charge…Thankfully, all of that ends tomorrow as we resoundingly crush their title dreams, simply by being true to who we really are (being the team that never fails to roll over whenever you need a result against us, that is.).

Yep, I’m really conflicted over being bitter about Jack leaving thus not wanting Man City to win anything this season to being sick of being Plop fans condescending that we are their shit second team and they love us now. Thankfully I just care about Villa winning but all that noise in the background is peeing me off.

Cheers CM we are all a bit nervous but we will prevail. Just look at this, the media have done a real number on City haven’t they - :

f they get the expected win no way do I want the Villa players to do a guard of honour for them. They and their oil funded billions can quite frankly go f**k themselves…We should just put our replica 82 cup on the pitch and walk out…Form is temporary, class my friends is permanent.

Enjoy the game tomorrow CM. Wish I could be there in person too.

I will try to keep myself busy with gardening and a run until about an hour and a half before kick when I will start binging. Will watch the game pacing the living room unless we score a couple early on.

My favourite was this one...

"Sadly, imo we are going to get hammered. Greedish is also probably going to score. Reason to be cheerful: This season is nearly over."

Cheers CM love these views throughout the season.
Also the above quote shows most footy fans rarely predict things right.
