The Toon Army seem a little pre occupied with snapping Grealish in half after the last seasons game. Some interesting comments about the officials as well, and I have to say I haven’t heard of Jarred Gillett? Could he be influenced by the home crowd? I was left feeling a little bit flat after the game last weekend (obviously happy with four goals!), but they are growing with every 90 minutes played and it’s going to be magnificent eventually

COME ON CITY!!!

Referee: Jarred Gillett
Assistants: Lee Betts, Ian Hussin
Fourth official: Tony Harrington
VAR: Peter Bankes
Assistant VAR: Marc Perry.

Team Selection

Pope
Trippier
Botman
Burn
Targett
Guimares
Joelinton
Willock
Almiron
St Maximin
Wilson

And the rest…

I'm just glad that if we lose it isn't a disasterous start to the season.

I hope they show us mercy is all.

We’re going to win. We need to play our game and not focus on theirs. Get Joelinton to go in hard on whichever girl they play (Grealish/Foden) in the first 5 minutes.

I just hope Grealish has a shocker. We'll lose but a 3-1 with Almiron scoring or assisting whilst small man Jack fluffs his lines would ease the pain a touch. I think the fan base always liked Miggy as he tries so hard but those comments really did buy him extra support from the stands at a point where many had given up on him.

Yes our fans can be like an extra man at times with the noise and atmosphere. Every time Grealish touches the ball he is going to get grief and if Joelinton smashes him early doors you just never know.

City are just another team to crumble under the noise at St James.

Lovely goal De Bruyne got the other day, keep Haaland and De Bruyne quiet and we'll win this, City always have a blip and think it's our turn for it!

Referee: Jarred Gillett. (only 10 premier league games and 2 of them was with us - had just as many VAR games last season for us than actual refffing premier games in total) …Assistants: Lee Betts, Ian Hussin…Fourth official: Tony Harrington. (only 2 premier league games and 1 was with us)…VAR: Peter Bankes. (13 premier league games and 2 was with us -- does a lot more VAR work than reffing)…Assistant VAR: Marc Perry.

Tony Harrington and Peter Bankes sound like a couple of nice retired grandfathers from the west country who like country walks and the odd pint in their local. Jarred Gillett though, that's a ****ing name, sounds like a galactic space avenger with deadly ninja skills and supernatural powers.

Citeh are too good.

Has to be 4-5-1 for me. Flood that midfield. I would be tempted to play Willock Longstaff Bruno Joe Miggy across the midfield. Willock on the Left side just to work hard. Forget about

width because we won’t be using it.

Both teams haven’t conceded, can’t see that staying the same next week…2-0 to us.

Losing by 2 goals or less will be a decent outcome. Just want to see us having some hope still at HT.

Play like we did today, and we'll lose. Groundbreaking sentence, I know. However, I truly think we'll step on the gas this week, and SJP will be bouncing so fuck it. 3-2 win.

Can see Joelinton snapping Grealish in half for Miggy. Probably doesn't even like Miggy, just an excuse for blood.

Probably a defeat but this group are more than capable of causing an upset if they play well.

We're gonna get a paddling. No disgrace. City are on another level this year. Even more so than last.

Didn't mind City pre-Barca as a footballing outfit but find them incredibly boring under Guardiola. It'll be a shit game where we have about 30% of the ball and lose by a few goals. Don't care about the score, in a way, just want us to have a go and have proper spells of pressure.

We'll dig in, show plenty of application, but ultimately they'll be a level above. 0-2.

They will beat us and the ref will help them, as always. But there will be signs we can compete in parts.

An early season title decider…In all seriousness Man City are by far the best team in the league and will walk the league by at least 15 points I reckon but they won't win every game this season no team can ever do that. Our home form has gotten better and better and its becoming a fortress again. Going to go for 1-1.

Manchester City will most likely play incredibly boring football in this game and churn out a win. I hope I'm wrong. About the outcome, that is. I also hope they play incredibly boring football.

We haven’t conceded more than once at home since we played them in December.

We need to go full on atletico against them. Proper shithousery from the off.

Reckon we'll do em.

City are always most vulnerable at the start of the season then they normally win about 20 games in a row , atmosphere should be electric , could potentially sneak a point at best.

I think if City play the way they did last season we can definitely get something this time, I remember being frustrated at how little City had to do to get their 4-0. The non penalty incident was genuinely disgraceful and in the age of VAR just dodgy as hell.

At least Sterling won't score this time.

Hate playing these. Pass you to death before usually cutting a simple ball across the box for a tap in. Although I think we’’ll be more competitive this time.

We will murder them at set pieces ( if only we can get one).

I’m glad we’ve got that Aussie ref. As far as I can see he’s the best of a bad bunch.

What excites me is I know our manager will be going into this game and looking for 3 points, it likely won’t happen, but what a world away from Bruce-ball.

Cheers CM

The ref is an Aussie, who was promoted to Prem last season.

Wenhad him in an FA cup we won 4-1 and he booked Walker.

Confident and rightly so. They are decent at home. WTF is Miggy and what did Grealish do to him?

Potential banana skin and will be happy with a 1-0

That shite winger they’ve got that looks 12. Grealish mentioned he was crap at the trophy parade and they’ve taken offence it seems.

Almiron? The forward with 1 goal and no assists last year? He’s hardly troubling the matchday announcer and score keeper is he

Found that quite amusing.
