The Atmosphere

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The Atmosphere

Postby Original Dub » Thu Sep 01, 2022 10:27 am

Mentioned in another thread but felt it worthy of its own - it's fantastic so far this season, both on TV and (especially) in the flesh.

The place is bouncing.

What do you think has finally got it hopping?

Haaland has dragged out something inside the fans, plus the tempo is higher when you have the worlds superstar wearing a 9 on his back imo.

He's definitely added to it for sure. I'm as excited to watch him at the minute as much as I am the rest of the team together.

Around the stadium was buzzing when I was there v Bournemouth. It was my 5 year old's first ever city game and he's completely hooked!

Obviously the weather helps but I've been there plenty of times in recent years when the weather was amazing but there was still a lack of atmosphere.

Long may it continue. Can't wait to get over again soon.

A lot of oppo fans seem to think chanting, “Where were you when you were shit?” will offend us. Up there with the most embarrassing chants we’ve had directed at us.

I reckon an element of it will be the 6-10 year old fans that will have decided to follow us after the Aguero goal 10 years ago. Those kids will be going to the games now and the more youths in the ground, the louder it will be. Helped of course by the way we have started and Haaland as well!

We have been playing amazing football for years - I reckon the younger generation are getting to that age where the vocals start surfacing .

It cannot be just because we have haaland playing , although it’s hard not to scream when he’s on his game !
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

At 2-0 yesterday Forest fans were singing "2-0 to the empty seats". Think we're getting to the stage where corporates are booking up multiple seats but not filling them every game, so we show as sold out but there's gaps. A finance company my wife's business work with offered hospitality to me last season, but with as I've got a season ticket and have to drive 125 miles home I turned them down. Easy to see how it happens.

Normally, i would say ok , but the corporate food is crap, then you still have to pay for drinks . They want 400 quid for offsite against the rags .

No thanks losing the plot .

Atmosphere this season
1, Already mentioned the feel good factor about the club
2, The Haaland factor , the whole stadium is gripped by him .
3, We are now world wide box office like never before.
4, New generation of 17 - 21 age group of City fans who mostly have tickets in the south stand keep the volume levels up .
5, Huge increase in day trippers who offer absolutely fuck all except endless photos and store bags full of goodies.

Think that has it covered.
