Definitely. Not looking good for him at all. We’d have been better sending him abroad than slogging around the championship.

I've got my coat on already Mase, but i've been dying to ask since this thread was created. If I nipped into Zürich and bought a Rolex on HP, would it qualify as a Loan Watch ? ...

I'm out of here .

I believe it was used as Kelvin Etuhu‘s defence when he stole those watches.

Yep, Luzern and Zürich make big money out of those Communist Chinese Millionaires and Nouveau Riche Indians , Koreans etc

It's funny really they are bussed in from Italy or France or Germany for the Day in Luzern . All can afford expensive watches but can't afford to stay in Swiss Hotels. Cheapskates that they are.

Good article on both the McAtee brothers -

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11869349/Brothers-James-John-McAtee-happy-FA-Cup-romance.html

James’ brother states that James joined City because his dad was pissed off United let John go  Another fuck up by the Rags hopefully.

Thanks for sharing that. A good pal of mine used to play rugby with their dad and grandad. Big rugby league family. Branny may know of them seeing as he's an Ordsall boy like me. High hopes forJames - let's hope he bucks the trend and returns from his loan spell

Harwood-Bellis straight into the Burnley line up after being out injured for ages.

Doyle starting for Sheff UtD with McAtee on the bench.

Delap injured? Not even been on bench in ages while the other two strikers they have on loan are smashing it

My mates a North End season ticket holder. Says it’s a mix of Ryan Lowe being a scouser and favouring scousers, and Delap not looking arsed when he’s given a chance.

Watched the Coventry v Watford game yesterday. yesterday.
Calum Doyle played well, Wilson Esbrand was good going forward but at fault for both Watford goals.

Aren't those day trips something to do with VAT refunds, though? If you go on an organized tour to Switzerland, I'd guess they have some kind of assistance for this included in the package, while if you book a trip yourself, you have to do all the paperwork unaided. If you buy a £20K watch, you get a rebate of just over a grand.

Why can't Indians and Chinese get it refunded? I thought the general rule applied by all countries was that refunds (where given) were on the basis of being a non-resident (and in some cases also non-citizen), which would mean all tourists and day-trippers could get it. Or does Switzerland have a weird set of rules?

I hate being on a bus with Chinese people from Serbia to northern Bosnia & Herzegovina: you can bet your bottom dollar that 90% of the time they're just heading to the first town over the border for a few hours to claim their VAT refund (which I think is 17%, out of the 20% originally paid), then heading back. It adds on a 30-60 minute wait at the border. For some reason, bespoke shoes seem to be a big thing among those that do this.

^^^^^^

Re VAT ,

When you go to the states you cannot get your sales tax back.

the VAT within the EU the same , but Switzerland has an agreement with the EU about vat . The idea is you can claim the difference back . IIRC this doesn't apply to Far east countries .

Yeah, since 2 or 3 years ago, I think. It was a bit of a surprise when they announced that, because it's essentially shooting itself in the foot by eliminating a large part of the attraction for luxury goods shoppers, while at the same time, in the wake of Brexit, luxury goods shoppers from the UK now have an incentive to head to Paris or Milan to buy there, instead of in the UK, due to the VAT rebate for which they're eligible. The UK is one of very few countries in Europe (alongside Andorra and a few other micronations) to not offer a VAT refund, from what I recall.

I'm pretty sure that isn't how it works. I think that's the (general) system for B2B transactions, but not for tourists, as that system would be impossible to regulate: for example, what VAT would a Spanish citizen who's a resident of Germany, buying things from Switzerland but then flying on to Algeria be eligible to reclaim, and would this differ depending on whether they were showing their Spanish passport or German ID card?
