Brilliant, nice one. Wondered if it was like a normal lease - if I leased a car I couldn’t then lease it to another person. Equally if I rented a flat, I couldn’t then rent it to someone else.

But if we’re making the money from gigs we should be making any money from this bid as well.

I had tickets for all England games. Purchased in advance, they were £30 each totalling £180 for all the wembley games

Possibly down to general apathy about International football. Hardly anyone I know is arsed about it. The International breaks when they happen are a distraction rather than something to look forward to.

Maybe tournament football would be different. But say Sweden v Greece for example is hardly something your average English punter is gonna get excited over

But if you leased a car or flat, the lessor also wouldn't be able to lease it out to someone else while you were away on holiday, either... My *guess* is there's something in the T&Cs about what we can and can't also use the stadium for (and when).

I’ve just read that we renegotiated with MC a few years ago and they now get a flat £3m a year from us for rent of the stadium, instead of a % of gate sales. I’m assuming they get their £3m and that’s that. We get the money from gigs and other use of it.

If I remember right, you had to buy tickets to all group games at the stadium. So I think we had 3 matches at old Trafford, if you wanted to watch one you had to buy tickets for the other two. Most locals couldn't justify spending such cash when they only wanted to watch the odd game. It was a stupid idea and caused problems at every ground. If they'd just had normal purchasing, most stadiums would have been full.

I was only a kid, but if I knew Italy v Germany would be sold out, we'd have been able to say well fuck it, let's go watch another game. But that option wasn't available. No chance of low income homes like mine being able to wedge out on 3 matches.
