Kompany would be wary about to “doing a Lampard” and wrecking his reputation plus he has to show he can cut it not just survive in the Prem. I'd be inclined to agree, but which country? I think he'll be considered persona non grata by Spain, while Germany and Italy won't take a foreign manager (possibly also Brazil and Argentina). Maybe Mexico or USA for 2026, or one of the Arab states.

Of course, England probably isn't off the table if the FA can find a way to squeeze in a few more matches at Wembley throughout the season to fill their coffers...

Likewise, but Saudi have historically gone for B-list managers, because they prefer a foreign manager to be the scapegoat when they go out in the group stages, rather than 'their own' players - I doubt their FA could realistically pass the buck to Pep, even with their fans' fanaticism, so I don't see an offer like that appearing. I remember an article, probably around the time of the 2006 World Cup, which looked at qualified countries' fans' favourites to win the World Cup. There were only a few who near-unanimously picked their own country: realistic prospects (2 or 3 of Germany, France, Brazil, Argentina, Spain & Italy), and England and Saudi Arabia.
