If this happens, it's certainly the end for me.

That’s just what I need to call it a day with football.

Didn't they tried this already and everyone told them to fuck off?

Yes, spain tried it but it got shelved. I believe they're seriously considering it for the season after next

Didn't the Copa del Rey final get played in the Middle East this season?

As I said about a decade ago on here, I reckon the Charity Shield could work with this: 16 of the 20 PL teams (at the time I think the Intertoto was still going on) playing knockout rounds abroad, with the final held in Wembley.

Now, I reckon it should be all teams not involved in Euro qualifying, plus invitations to the newly promoted teams if other clubs have Euro qualifying commitments.

That's 4 games per club auctioned off to the highest bidder, with organizations like "Relevant Sports" becoming erm irrelevant, as the PL no longer needs them as a middleman.

Your thinking of the spanish super cup 'el classico' played in Saudi in january. Copa Del Rey was played in Sevilla . So yes, they've already tested the waters

It wont happen - fans backlash will be nuclear.

Money talks, i can see the middle east, USA bidding for some big matches but that would be the thin end of the wedge. Fans wont be considered if US cartel owners get their way, look how they operate with American football. Teams change cities, no promotions, relegations just bidding for the best young players and salary caps. I'm sure they'd want that for 'soccer'

I suppose there could be a bright side. City could play at your Caribbean hideaway and you could invite us all out there to stay at your gaff, all expenses paid.

That's just a term of endearment.
