Well this is it. The first of two tough legs. Not really looking forward to it as have a sense of trepidation about this. The RB slot worries me, indeed the defence ad a whole does.
There are some positives though. Madrid haven't got a great record at ours. And generally speaking we are usually decent at home. Haaland is in good form at the moment as is Foden.
Hoping to still be in the tie at full time
1-1. Foden

Haaland hasn’t scored against RM the last 4 games he’s played them.

Hopefully tonight’s the night to rectify that. Think he’ll be marked out of the game though. Which should create space for others

With so many of Franco's boys on yelliw cards I'd start Grealish in midfield. Fuck with them from the start. Rudiger will follow Haaland wherever he goes so opportunities for Foden and the likes in the spaces.

The only hope I have is that they don't win in our home and keep the record going.
The rest is just a bonus.

Gonzáles to start? Possibly instead of Kova or Bernie...
I'm keeping him on the bench
Ederson;
Manuel Akanji, John Stones, Rúben Dias, Joško Gvardiol;
Bernardo Silva, Mateo Kovačić, Kevin De Bruyne;
Phil Foden, Erling Haaland (F), Oscar Marmoush (L) :
Bench: Stefan Ortega, Scott Carson, Rico Lewis, Abukodir Khusanov, Nathan Aké, Nico Gonzáles, Matheus Nunes, İlkay Gündoğan, Jack Grealish, Savinho, Jérémy Doku, James McAtee.
City win 2-0

I would keep Bernie for this one, he always looked possessed vs Madrid

I'd have Khusanov right back. Speed and strength.
Midfield of Nico and Phil to give the legs to assist Kev.
Sav, Marmoush and Haaland

I can’t see Pep leaving Nico out if he’s judged fit to play. Supposedly Real will play a makeshift
RB so we need a plan to exploit that. Nunes wasn’t seen at the public phase of training yesterday. I’d play Akanji at RB but he needs help with someone tracking back Bernie? and Stones will have to be watchful on that flank too. Khusanov is certainly swift but it would be quite a risk to drop him into such a big match against the likes of Vinicius and Mbappe. Bottom line the onus is on us to score tonight. Probably need two to win. We only managed one last year although Tintin missed a very good chance late on. We have the players to trouble their defence so we have a decent chance. Going to the match. Bricking it! Come on City!
