Honestly Does Anyone Expect A different Style With Pep

Postby zabbadabbado » Tue Jul 01, 2025 4:10 pm

Honestly i think he is incapable of changing at this point.

Meaning we will carry on as we are next season the same.

I am not sure he is all there mentally anymore either. His continued insistence on playing one way rigidly, regardless of the very obvious physical limitations of many of the Players being asked to play his way verges on insanity..

I am over last night game already.

What was more concerning was it was a rinse + repeat of literally every defeat we have had over the last 18 months - 2 years. How does he watch what we are watching, sit there and doing fuck all to change it.

He knew as we all knew before kick off that Al Hillal are a fast counter attacking side. So what does he do ?.He fills the team with all his "Uncs".Plays the insane high line with slow shit defenders. The exact same way he did in every game in the Premier League. Why not at least include the quick Khusanov for the counter ?

Are we expected to believe he has zero plan to counter fast attacking sides ?.That We can only play one way and one way only ?.We played Al Hillal strengths. Leaving all the creativity on the Bench whilst Gundpgan and Bernado ran through treacle for 90 minutes.

It was unforgiveable ,and we have seen this so many times with him before. The thought crossed my Mind maybe he was downing Tools, deliberately playing to Al Hillal strengths. He did similar in a Derby at Old Trafford last season leaving us wilfully exposed to the only Rag threat their counters. Only for the fact Rags were so shit we would have been 4 down at half time.

No idea what is going on with him. So much promise from Juventus game extinguished by Pep and it has been a common theme these last 2 seasons. Literally every defeat has been caused by his shit tactics playing to every counter attacking side strengths.

Surely he is on borrowed time. Supporting Klopp condemning the CWC forgetting that he ears £20,000 000 a Season from the Club and the CWC was a revenue stream. This was a big opportunity to spread the City brand in United States A .partial success regardless i suppose. Even though players like Akanji were snivelling about having to play more Football beforehand. We can add CWC to the Carabao And also the *FA Cup if this interferes with a players bender we are too entitled to play in seriously, entitled much.. Players on £240 000 a week moaning about having to promote the Club image for a couple of weeks.

I should be full of optimism for the new season, already i am dreading it. Unless there is an intervention by the Club hierarchy to try and force stop the decline by selling all Pep "Uncs" it is going to be a continuation of his painfully long Goodfbye to the detriment of our Club.

He is not going to change, there is no fixing this with Pep. He is stopping our evolution either deliberately for reasons only he knows. Or by the fact he is incapable of fixing the team by evolving and adapting.

He couldn't wait to get all those shite slow players on the Pitch in the second half and revert to type, it was all he knows.

Even the substitutions were forced in extra time.

It is going to be another season of painful slow insipid shit until the Trigger is finally pulled.

We all know it..

You’re not far wrong — this isn’t even about last night anymore. It’s the pattern. And as long as Pep refuses to confront it, the decline will keep rolling, all wrapped in shiny possession stats and some wanky press conference quote about “control.”
I said it at the end of last season — I’ve seen nothing to convince me he’s willing to change. He’s spunked nearly 400 million quid since January, and refuses to use 100 million quid of that. In fact, he’s already trying to loan one of them out. It’s a piss-take.
Last night was just a copy-paste job from last season — same mistakes, same stubbornness. He can’t hide behind the usual “everyone’s injured” line this time, but no doubt we’ll get some gibberish excuse when it inevitably falls apart again. Wait for it.

If the season starts and he refuses to change our tactics from sideways and backwards passing I'll give up on the season. It's not even about not winning anything, last season was horrible to watch. It doesn't need to be like that with the players we have.

Let's see what happens.

I see you've learned a new word Zabba, but my kids tell me I shouldn't use it as I'm an unc myself.

Agree with all of the above, he's finished......there was a ray of hope. It lasted about a week. New blood, new ideas please. Even if the next one fails we won't have to watch this shit show every week.

That game sucked the life out of me. I am very patient but even I am worried. My hope right now is he’ll lose some players before the season and be forced to adapt.

Khus and Nico G look doomed already to me.
Tracking back is overrated.

Yes, Pep won us the treble. No one’s denying he’s a fucking genius (was ) but this “blind loyalty” cult is ignoring what’s right in front of us.
As for our football style - piss poor and sterile possession, pointless passing triangles, and absolutely no tempo.
You used to watch City and think “we’re going to fucking batter someone today.” Now it’s “how many sideways passes until someone tries something?” Boring as fuck !
Look at Haaland — 27 league goals sounds good, but his involvement per 90 is down, his pressing dropped off, and he’s isolated for large stretches because Pep’s system is obsessed with control over chaos.
Foden? Career-best season in spite of Pep shuffling him around like a spare part.
Also, Pep’s “in-game management” has been suspect to put it nicely - .
– Late subs.
– No Plan B.
– Over-reliance on the inverted full-back nonsense that no fucker fears anymore - even Leyton Orient ffs !
Teams have figured it out. Luton gave us a game. Copenhagen knocked us out.
He’s starting to resemble late-stage Mourinho: still a genius, but convinced his way is the only way, even when the football is dying in front of him.

So yeah, thanks for the treble — but this isn’t about 2023. This is about 2025. And if the first five games are more of the same, then we’re watching the early stages of the Guardiola downfall — and some of you are too busy clapping like seals to see it.

(I’m getting these rants in early )

Bear in mind this is the longest he's been at a club. This is completely new to him and he's never got to this point where he's needed to move on from being loyal to his older players. Someone with experience needs to tell him. Fergie knew exactly when to fuck players off.
