I can't see that the old thread reflects current views and I don't think votes can be altered. So maybe there should be another vote. Should we:
a) get rid at the first opportunity
b) hang on and keep hoping

I’m basing my vote on the fact that class is permanent form is temporary. I don’t know how much longer I can hold out though, like most of the team he was abysmal today. I suspect his wealthy but poor lifestyle has taken its toll. I’ll give him this season to pull it together otherwise off you pop.

Well, one would hope that the return to form would reveal itself over the next few games, the only way he’s going to be a regular starter is by playing the way we know he can, and if he doesn’t, like yesterday, he’ll be playing a bit part and will never get it back. This is the make or break season for Foden and he’s going to have to make it very soon. There are odd glimpses, but he looks like a broken man to me on the pitch.

Phil's contract runs until 2030 he'll probably sit pretty until then. Someone at the club should have had the courage to pass him forward before he signed a new contract, waiting for him to get better is going to be a long fruitless wait.

He had the whole summer off to relax, clear his head and return refreshed and ready to go. His performance yesterday was nothing short of shocking. It's no coincidence, in my mind, that Coventry came back into that game the moment Foden replaced Cherki. We had no cohesion or creativity in midfield and started getting outplayed by a bang average side. I have loved Phil as one of our own, and in the past he's rewarded us with some magnificent football. Unfortunately I no longer think his form is a blip - I now think he's past his best and will never recover what he had. I'd so, so love for him to prove me wrong, though...

Where i am at with Foden.

I feel like his game has evolved in to coasting through them, hiding in plain sight. Playing safe side and to the back passes not really creating anything. When he should be aspiring to be more like KDB. Trying to affect the game at every opportunity. Instead we get magnolia displays that are becoming the new normal and have been the normal with only the occasional exception. Time running out for him now. He is now not even a guaranteed starter,

Foden has everything. Let's give Maresca time to see if he can get that fire in him again and recapture his form.

If he has another season like the last two, at least we won't lose him on a free.

There's been decent glimpses in the 3 games this season. It's the same old story of everything having to be totally amazing or totally disastrous with some people. Let's just get a few games into the season to give the whole squad time to gel before we start digging out our own players all the time.

Well in this case he's been totally disastrous. This is not a new player at a new club. And he's had a full pre-season. WW wants us to keep the faith. People have grown old here waiting for Foden to shape up.

It's not so much the glaring sitters, it's the constant giving the ball away or failed 50/50s. I know others were poor but he nearly cost us dear on Saturday

Thing is we have alternatives now and barring injuries, we are not very reliant on him.
I dont know what is going on with him, but something is off and only he can solve it.
But if I was maresca I would be immediately more concerned about our defensive frailty which badly needs work.
We wont keep getting away with it. Foden can sort his own shit out.

We have completely rebuilt the midfield and most of them arrived after pre-season. Foden isn't a new player at the club but pretty much all of the midfield and forwards apart from Cherk, Doku and Haaland have been with us for less than a year. They're not going to be playing at treble winning levels instantly. We just have to keep winning matches for now and then hoepfully it will all click for everyone. Foden has proved he can play at the highest level and not look out of place with world class team mates. I feel confident he will be there again once things settle over the next month or so.

He's literally signed a new contract a few weeks ago. We're not getting rid of him
