Training Friday 25/1

Postby Douglas Higginbottom » Fri Jan 25, 2013 12:27 pm

As I arrived they were testing the pitch where everything had been set up for the session but quickly decided it was a little too frozen so moved everything over to the undersoil pitch.18 players on view and I was a bit surprised to see Boyata,Rekik and Lopes all of whom I thought might be involved in the EDS today.

It was as cold today as I can recall which was mainly down to a biting wind.I hear Mancini mentioned Nasri might be a doubt for tomorrow and he wasn't out today but Maicon was in full training for the first day I have seen.It was a regular day before the game training session today.Plenty of warm up stuff and then into games with big nets and 5 a side nets alternately. Milner scoring early from 25 yards in the small nets and I saw Carlos get one but I wasn't watching all the time as I was again getting balls from behind the keeper training.

And now it starts snowing albeit nothing serious as they moved into a game and right at the start a goal I think for Edin knocking in a low cross from the left. From there it was a series of near things:

SS wide from another low cross
Good save by Costel from Mario
SS 2 attempts from another cross. The first attempt well saved by Costel
Mario's next attempt well saved
SS scored but flagged offside
Zaba just over after a typical brave drive down the inside right channel
Mario just over with Joe Hart screaming score score from the other end
Dedryk took Joleon out making me think he was looking for a game tomorrow (joke!)
Another save from Mario

And that was that! Maicon stayed out for some extras with Fausto and a few others for some free kick practice but I had to get off and across to watch the under 21'v v Norwich.

When you return the balls to the keepers do you drop kick them back over the fence or gracefully over arm throw them? lol

I never try the kicking option.Too much scope for embarrassment :)

Talking of which the EDS game was called off by the ref after the 2 teams had been out warming up!!

You wouldn't want to KILL any of the first team either.
