Big Ed coming home?

What do you reckon?

I would sign him up. A great option to have until summer.

he's been suspended by Roma . So if the do terminate contract , by mutual consent then wouldn't cost anything but wages.

Are you sure that's true? The only thing I've seen about this (on social media, rather than a reputable source) cited a suspension from 2 years ago... There are rumours he's fallen out of favour, but nothing concrete. He was out the last game due to injury, but playing before that (and captained the team the last league game he played in).

What I found amusing was that part when they say he was offered to both Manchester clubs.
I can only imagine Ed wanting to go in the swamp.

If someone is being offloaded by Roma he's not really for us.

If an older striker who wasn't so mobile, but never missed, was available it might be a good shout (though probably not for Pep)

But we really have some rosy memories of Edin - sure he got important and fantastic goals, but how I remember us cursing him with all the ones he missed, time after time.

“Some important goals” is very much downplaying his contribution. He’s one of the main reasons we beat QPR. Before that against Everton getting a couple in the run in, if I remember correctly.

His goals were integral to where we are now.

I’d take him for a short term spell if possible. If nothing else when we are stuck he could get on some crosses we miss every game.
Tracking back is overrated.

For a low fee on a 18 month deal I'd take him back in a heart beat. Doesn't matter if he's a yard slower now, the guy knows where the goal is. He was always a square peg in a round hole with us so I don't see it being an issue that he isn't a Pep style player.

What a option to have on the bench on nights like the WBA at home game.

In his peak, playing for a team that suited his style, he would have scored 30 goals a season for a number of seasons.

I agree, no need for disrespect.
But it's in the past and as they say 'You should never go back'.

It's got to be a piss take this thread surely.
Yes he scored goals - 50 in 130 Premier League games with 11 assists but his 1st touch was absolutely shocking. I couldn't imagine him in our team now in his peak and he's 34 now.

Incidentally Lukaku who I also definitely wouldn't want but I've seen the various arguments on here about him has a much better Premier League record. 113 in 252 games with 35 assists and he played in worse teams.

We're not doing too bad at the moment- let's just break the bank for Haaland in the summer.
