This for me highlights the problem with tournament football, as soon as the teams are happy with their position, they hold what they have, not lending itself to attractive football

Starting a player who hasn’t played for a while after injury and then bringing another one on who is in the same boat will always have consequences. Maybe it will be of benefit later on but, for me, those 2 aren’t the answer to the inevitable question.

I’ll enjoy it while it lasts though.

Stones ran with the ball out of defence but the commentary team thought it was McGuire.

We needed to lay a marker today, we didn’t and not many of the top teams will be worried if they get us. What do we have in reserve?

Do I detect a note of sarcasm here ?

Lol. No mate, I missed the ‘will not’ out of my post ;-)

Sterling takes risks and wins the game. Southgate tries to get legs into players that shouldn’t be there when he should be setting a marker. Nobody will be afraid.

I am a big advocate of the national team but have to say that I’m disappointed, again.

I don’t know, we may get through, but it will be uninspiring from what’ve we seen so far. I’ll enjoy a win but will understand the loss, and that’s not how it’s supposed to be.

I’ve realised that there’s no ‘Golden Era’ of football for England because I’ve realised that the same stands for all teams as they’re in the same boat. We are better than the part of our sum though but the FA don’t care, they’re just interested in delivering for the sponsors.

Well , I suppose , after that most disjointed, poor performance and the previous two shocking games , what we have learned is that it will not be necessary on Tuesday to keep the Aircraft's Engines running to fly this disaster of a squad home to Blighty. They can all get the tube and leave from Euston to go on their summer holidays before we grace webbley again for the first of five trophies :D
