But Barca are not paying Messi at the moment so I don’t know how their wage bill hasn’t just dropped by 50% ?!

Cue Tebas lifting this limit. Perhaps this is why Pep was having a pop at him for not doing this in order to bail out Farca?

On their Shit-list mate....shit-list..........

They can fuck right off if its a loan request. Saying that, would pay them to take him off the wage bill

Just reading a book, in it, there is a soldier nicknamed Thrombo because he is a slow moving clot.

No one is taking him with the wages he's on, 1 more year after this on his deal, the injury record and the performance levels mate. No one.

A loan is the best we can hope for.

We'd EASILY have to pay a good part of his wages like when we did with Adebayor.

I'd say 40-50% minimum.

I'm not so certain it works that way.

I think they have to formally release him.

Otherwise players as far as I understand earn their wages on a weekly basis as their contract dictates.

Not certain but I would think at the end of the fixed term contract then the club would stop paying his wages but may still hold onto his registration until he signs a new contract with another club or renews his contract. Perhaps, a backdated contract may be provisionally agreed.

I’m not sure it works like that: Look at the players that chose to leave Championship clubs before the season had finished due to COVID last year - Lyle Taylor for example. No way they’d have been getting paid weekly at the club they were leaving without playing, as they weren’t allowed to be registered by their new clubs until the season had ended.

I think Messi signed for a while now the extension, but still, piss poor to let everyone think he has no contract.
From both sides.

Also, PSG added also Hakimi to their list. Fantastic transfer that.
With Donnarumna in goal, also.

There is only 1 thing about Antoine Griezmann that appeals to me.
And that is absolutely nothing.

Let's see if khaldoons balls are as big as his mouth regarding going into the transfer market!! Pep saying it's impossible to buy a striker at these prices hopefully is a smokescreen.

According to reports on Sky, Riola wants a brokerage fee of upwards of €40M to facilitate the transfer of Haaland. Absolute daylight robbery. I wouldn’t pay that sort of money on principle even if it was on a 40 goal a year forward

Agree, however, we are in a situation when everyone around us is doing it and we are in danger of falling behind.
I am thinking this, let's say we sign him for 150 mil (110 Dortmund, 40 mil Raiola) and we add here a contract for 5 years. That is about 30 million for every year. Not bad, imho.

But, the real issue might be his wages. If he is asking the same as Kevin he can fuck off.

We simply will not pay those kind of figures. We never have done as it is not our business model. Expect a second tier striker to come in

I've thought about this, too - I've wondered if he's officially contractless, but getting money from a third party, to circumvent UEFA/La Liga finance rules, until Barca alleviate some of their financial chaos... I don't think there'd be anything to stop that happening, so long as he's paying tax on the income.

Paying tax on his income - hasn't he - along with others got form for not doing that? Agree that he is probably being paid off the books otherwise they would not be conforming to the financial rules

What’s the new president’s business?

Could he become an ambassador or some such made up role to give Messi his income whilst accepting a lower income from Barca to help balance the books?
