Fuck Sterling , again 2 x one on ones and the cunt is still clueless ......always the same story with him.

Sell him for 80 million and get Haaland in or simply bank the money till we have a decent chance of getting someone else in.

Never was his biggest fan but we would not get the money for him unless we could use it in a deal for a big hitter of a striker and I don't see that happening this window or even next. One thing I will say in his defence is that he keeps teams back - invariably he will miss the one on one chance though so this may be a moot point. Foden and Grealish over him all day on the left. I don't know what Pep is going to do when both Foden and KDB return

Selling Sterling makes no sense at this point, he has flaws but he-returns year in year out great work ethic and enough goals to mask his misses just about. Play him next to a 9 he could be brilliant. Jesus.proving Pep right to show faith btw, The lad is on fire.

If only we had the 9 to go with him?
With a full squad to pick from, the Leicester team will be interesting but I expect Pep to tinker with the shocking September fixture list that we have - 6 games in 3 competitions is crazy following international break

September will be quite interesting to see. It will prove if we needed a striker or a not.
Also, we are with our pants down. Sooner rather than later we will need to sign a striker.

I'd be keeping Torres and Gabs at home personally - though don't know if gabs is involved.

We are two short for the ideal squad which is two players for every position. We have one left back in zinchenko and one striker in theory with jesus who doesnt want to play striker.

We obviously had 100m plus banked for kane sitting their waiting to be spent. Youd wonder why we wouldnt look to spend some of it to fill either those roles. Im not saying panic buy but we have got ourselves into a tricky situation esp when u look at how our rivals have strengthened.

We could have ings and bertrand in for pract nothing to fill the gaps in the short term but we have sat on our hands. Wouldnt mind but these are old problems. We have had one left back mendy in five years under pep and rather than invest he has converted unwanted midfielders into left backs. This time last year both aguero and jesus were injured and we did nothing. That worked ok but how long can we get away with it?

Kane was our target. We missed.
We do what we always do, don't panic and spunk money, go back to the drawing board, do due diligence, get someone who fits with right age profile, etc...

Anyone who thinks this is an incorrect approach then think Sanchez, DiMaria, Martial, DeBeek, Depay and how long has it been since the Rags won some silverware.

Sure, but looking forward, I genuinely can't see where we can sign someone that is not a gamble.

What about when we got diaz instead of koudibally? Surely we have a second choice, surely all our eggs werent in one difficult basket? We have had a year to plan for this. What about left back? Whats the excuse for 4 years of neglect? We seem to think we have perfect transfer strategy. We are from it.

Yep Diaz was not first choice and we had a plan B, etc... But the situation was critical. We were leaking soft goals. They had to resolve so had alternatives lined up.

There is not a suitable alternative to Kane that we can get. I assume that is why we put all our eggs in one basket. Also, the situation is not critical like the Diaz situation. We score plenty of goals but miss sitters. We won PL last season and got to CL final. So I guess they reckon we can survive until we id a new fit.
Re LB. Same as CF position. We can get by. Not ideal but not critical. I reckon to hey are waiting on the Portuguese kid to become available at a reasonable fee.

Regarding City buying a striker it becomes so much easier in January…….. Kane will be available at half the price bell end Levy wanted this summer and we seemingly have a free run for Haaland in January also according to ITK MCFC journos.
Patience is a virtue and all that !
Not really here

Absolutely spot on. And though we in theory should have a back up plan, by that very nature it's a player who we deemed not good enough at the outset. Forwards are different to defenders and midfielders in that most teams, ourselves included, usually only play one of them whereas we play four of the former. Thus the choice of forward needs to be the correct one.

Mendes signed a new contract in December which increased his buyout to £60m. It's a lot of money to throw at a teenager with around 40 first team games under his belt. I heard that we wanted to see how he goes this season before spending that kind of money on him. He'll still only be 20 if we sign him next summer.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

But we could have signed Bertrand for free for a year.

And why would we do that? He isn’t good enough for us. It’s as simple as that. Once we start buying players out of panic or desperation then it’s a very slippery slope. Is he really that much better than Zinchenko? IMO he is not

I dont know if he is going or not, but isn't Mendy a good mate of his, maybe that is upsetting and has had some sort of impact on him.
Just a thought.

"Bernardo Silva 'happiness' key as Man City look to complete deadline day sales"
"City aren't expected to make any new signings over the next 36 hours, although a number of players could walk out the door."
If these predictions come about - are we really going to start the season with so many key positions uncovered?

Herein lies the problem. The pool of players that would improve us is very small. Zinchenko is still our best option at lb and was integral to us getting through the PSG tie last season and that's good enough for me. It's when he's rotated we have a problem. Pep has to manage that and make sure he is at his optimum for the big games.

Zinch to me seems the type of player who responds well to a run in the side and the confidence that brings. Maybe with Mendy out of the equation, if Pep was to have a quiet word and say "you're my first choice full back for me now. You will play a run of games, take this chance, dont fuck it up and make yourself my left back for next season as well" it might give the lad the impetus he needs

Because is better to have a back-up than no back-up.
