And why would we do that? He isn’t good enough for us. It’s as simple as that. Once we start buying players out of panic or desperation then it’s a very slippery slope. Is he really that much better than Zinchenko? IMO he is not

Herein lies the problem. The pool of players that would improve us is very small. Zinchenko is still our best option at lb and was integral to us getting through the PSG tie last season and that's good enough for me. It's when he's rotated we have a problem. Pep has to manage that and make sure he is at his optimum for the big games.

Zinch to me seems the type of player who responds well to a run in the side and the confidence that brings. Maybe with Mendy out of the equation, if Pep was to have a quiet word and say "you're my first choice full back for me now. You will play a run of games, take this chance, dont fuck it up and make yourself my left back for next season as well" it might give the lad the impetus he needs

Totally agree, give the lad a chance to make it his own position, I think he has the intelligence and ability to do that.

Because is better to have a back-up than no back-up.

And betrand is a better left back than zinchenko. Zinchenko gets away with it for us because he is surrounded by quality. Not having a pop at him because i like him but if he played for anyone else he wouldn’t look good at left back. There is a reason every team target us down that side. Its not his fault he isnt a left back. He can do a job there but a specialist left back he isnt. Bertrand as left backs go is better than him. He’s played there all his professional career and been quite decent. Also has a champions league winners medal from actually playing in a final which not many have.

I dont know if he is going or not, but isn't Mendy a good mate of his, maybe that is upsetting and has had some sort of impact on him.
Just a thought.
The MUEN's newbie 'fan brand writer' Alex Brotherton now talking about this

"Bernardo Silva 'happiness' key as Man City look to complete deadline day sales"
"City aren't expected to make any new signings over the next 36 hours, although a number of players could walk out the door."
If these predictions come about - are we really going to start the season with so many key positions uncovered?

Bernardo wasn't interested? at one point was Bernardo quoted by his own tongue as wanting out? Or like everything that has been in the media this summer that was taken as gospel turned out as utter bullshit?

Kane, we were interested but never made an offer because Levy wanted too much and he made it clear he wouldn't back down.

Tranny, we didn't offer a bid so Juventus tell us.

Can anyone tell me at one point Bernardo said he wanted out in his own words, not 'Pep said a few wanted to go'?

Pep confirmed it a few weeks ago mate. “Not just Bernardo, there are two, three or four players that want to leave…”

Fair enough, but his performance on Saturday indicated a change of heart? I really don't want him to be a passenger, I like the lad.

Honestly, I’d love to know why he wants out. The Together doc he was smiling all the time and having a laugh with everyone. A few days ago he was praising Pep. He’s got fellow countrymen in Dias and Cancelo here. I love him.

I think we need to stop listening at what Baldie is saying. From big things can happen to I want to go on a break or xxx and yyy are such big clubs or this and that want to leave.

He is just confusing.

Interesting, but Leipzig sold many of their best players. Surely we won't have any problems with them.

Doyle being tipped again for a Championship loan
https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk ... y-21072861
Yangel's got a Spanish angle they reckon

this is a bit of a surprise
"Olivier Ntcham, the former Manchester City and Celtic player, is currently undergoing a medical at Swansea City.
Ntcham, a technically gifted midfielder who can operate as a No 10 or as a No 8, is a free agent after leaving Celtic in the summer.
Newcastle showed an interest in signing the 25-year-old Frenchman in January and briefly considered him again this summer.
It is understood that there are still some financial details to be resolved before the deal with Swansea can be completed."

If somewhat we managed to keep everything quiet, it looks like we are not going to do any business, as expected.
No striker, no left back.

Apparently Nuno Mendes is for sale, weren't we linked with him a while back.

Baldie is relying on Zinch to fill that role..again...a position he does not excel in but plays there as he has no other choice.

Its a fuckign disgrace we don't have a LB.

He's 19 and only played around 40 first team games. He signed a new contract in December which bumped his release clause up to £60m. Last I heard, we wanted to see how he went this season before making a decision.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

I know nothing about him, but I see PSG are 'supposed' to be interested in him now.
We're no competition to them when it comes to getting deals done.
So if any of this is true, he is PSG bound now.

Usually, the first games after the windows close show us how we fuck up in not signing what we need. First comes to mind is Laporte injured after the window closed.

Weird window this, at least fix the left-back problem if you wouldn't sign a striker. A long term injury to either Zinch, Walker or Cancelo can really create huge problems.
