I'm only starting to come to terms with them pissing around near the corner flag in 96.

Funny, but we could have started the season with two trophies from two games and had four more to fight for a year of football.
And here you go, here is how you can motivate a squad.

If all fans thought like this, we’d never move forward as a club. If you’re not arsed about whether City win anything ever again, why carry on supporting City?? Wouldn’t it make more sense to go follow another sport?

Genuine question as well, because the club isn’t the same club it was when I was a kid with my season ticket watching us lose to Bury and Stockport whilst the Rags were winning the treble. It’s a club that NEEDS to win trophies. The whole “we were shit once” argument is bollocks. We were also class before that and won a European trophy.

So if you’re not bothered about whether we win trophies or not, then why carry on supporting City?

The point is, when we lost the chumps league final, I was disappointed for a day, then got over it. .

No real City fan would ever be disappointed for a day, then get over it......NONE.

You may support City but you are never in a month of Sundays a die hard City fan.

Not trying to turn this into I'm a bigger fan type thread but fuck me, I'm still livid about Porto. I wont be getting over that until we win it. Add smashing the red shite home and away to things that need to happen as well

Hate losing as much as '76 when I started watching City. The winning trophies will never get old or taken for granted as you never know when it will be the last. The derby shit we've had to endure under Pep though still has me seething. They've had one of their shittest periods while he's been with us but still beaten us 6 times. That, I find hard to live with especially when Pep comes out with his congratulatory bullshit after the game. I'm still waiting to put the 2018 debacle to bed. I think that's the angriest I've ever been after a City game. Fucking fuming I was.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

There 100's of thousands with the same mindset Branny.......it's a fucking disgrace we have lost to the Munchens 6 times considering all the facts...some lickers will still try and justify the losses though and defend baldy to the hilt for his brain farts.

So in the end we DID end up getting Grealish but in general I'm not sure if we have really strenghtened. As expected we never got close to these top strikers but I'm somewhat surprised we got no one up front.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I am disappointed. Esp since our rivals strengthened. Im sure we would have signed messi if it had of been a few weeks later in the window when he came available. We have our work cut out this season. Really glad bernardo is staying though, thats great news.

What a farcical transfer window. No striker, no left back all we managed to do was trigger a release clause.

And yet, we will still be awesome and our kids will get a chance to impress.

And Bendy doesn't get to play.

It's all good.

As mentioned elsewhere we will be better with Grealish and without Mendy. Torres gets a better chance to develop and a couple of our kids will also (presumably). We also have KDB and Foden to return.

The concerns are the well known LB position in the big games and a lack of clinical finishing of the huge number of chances we create.

Plus Chelsea and Rags have made big signings and Dippers have key players returning from injury. So presumably all of them will be better than last season.

But the biggest concern of all for me is the way VAR is used and the return of the ladyboy. The PL/SKY will do anything to engineer a shootout between the Rags and Dippers due to the commercial value.

Last w/e is only the start. IMO it is going to get a lot worse for us and Chelsea.

I keep hearing this kids will get chance to impress part. Especially considering Delap.
Now lot of people don't seem to understand that you REALLY need be ready for the first team football both mentally and physically. I don't think people quite realise what sort of jump up it is from Youth and U23 games to top end Premier League/European football. The difference is so huge it's very hard to even explain. When (and if) individual player is ready to take the jump is dependant on the individual player. There are rare instances when someone is ready to take it as an 18-year old. Some freaks of nature even as a 17-year old. It is NOT as simple as "throw Delap in there and see what happens". We are talking about feller who is very talented but at the end of the day just an 18-year old kid with teenagers mind.

Right course of action is usually to send the player on loan and let him prove himself step by step. And every step is truly a hurdle in mans game. Take Pablo Moreno for example. We are talking about true wonderkid here who was practically unbeatable in Barcelona and Juventus youth teams. Yet he struggled last year for Girona and is there anothere season to see how well he adapts. Claudio Gomes who has been France captain at just about every youth level is learning his trade with Barnsley now. Even Filip Stevanovic is with Heerenveen despite having played for Partizan first team for years. Those three are actually bigger talents by all account than Delap. Just to put things into perspective.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Let’s see how Torres goes in making his claim as our striker - I think if we’d signed him this summer after the euros as a striker we’d be feeling a bit happier about the situation we are in.

Do not fuck about getting Haaland though please, if it was me I’d offer them 30 million over his release clause in the summer in the January window and see if they bite

Haaland's moving in january anyway. Dortmund are not retarded. They wanted that extra 6 months of play from him but they are guaranteed to cash in close to max. value rather than let it slide to release clause.

But going with the point I made in the opening post I'm not sure if we are willing to enter that bidding contest. Grealish was our big signing for this season. See you next summer.
