If it does go through I’m assuming it’s because Bern is leaving, Gundo is getting on, Kev isn’t getting younger, Fern is leaving.

He's 29, not exactly spring spring chicken

We signed Walker and Fern at a similar age.

We’ll be linked with a host of top midfielders. I think Pogba’s going abroad fwiw. Tchouameni and Aouar are very attractive prospects I’d be looking at.

Replacement for Fern apparently. I'd love to know who we are actually looking at as a replacement. Whoever it is will be playing second fiddle to Rodri which rules out any top drawer players. I. e. for example we won't be signing Rice for the money they'll want and he won't want to spend half the season on the bench.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

Well, ignore Hargreaves, but I have a soft spot for the last rag we signed.
He had a Herman Munster Head, but what a player.

If we’re just looking for someone to be second fiddle to Rodders then surely we just promote Lavia. He learns for the next couple of seasons, playing in the cups as well, and then takes over?

Do not like the sound of this - :
Barcelona are 'targeting Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva and could offer Frenkie de Jong as part of a potential swap deal' as Pep Guardiola looks to fill the void left by outgoing Fernandinho
Barcelona are targeting Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva this summer
The Catalan giants could offer a swap deal including Frenkie de Jong in return
The 27-year-old has chipped in with 11 goals and five assists so far this season

I’d hate to lose Bern but the guys Mrs has wanted him to leave for the last few years now. We’re lucky that he’s the type of player that will still give 110% no matter what. He doesn’t owe us anything and has been amazing with a perfect attitude. If he’s desperate to go then de Jong would be a pretty good replacement.

I think he might stay longer. I watched a documentary on the city website and his missus seemed to be enjoying it once they could get out of the flat and see a bit of the country.
But as you say, he has pulled his tripes out for us and he owes us nothing. He does love the club and the fans, though.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

Hope he stays.
But in terms of owing us nothing, that’s not strictly true. He is a top player and as such would command a hefty transfer fee. If he has as I understand one year left on his contract, then if he doesn’t commit to a new contract this summer, then as a club it would be very poor management to not entertain selling him whilst we still can get a decent fee for him. The lad De Jong is an astute player and is young and I’m sure we coveted him a couple of years ago if I recall. So if a swap deal is on the cards this summer and IF Bernie isn’t going to commit to staying longer, than I think this has traction

Bern has until 2025 on his contract mate. If he wants to go now is the summer we’ll get the most for him.

Ah, ok. Not crucial this summer then.
But as you say, his transfer value will probably be at its peak this year. And on a football level, a swap for Bernie and de Jong wouldn’t be a bad thing to upset the team dynamic

I’m totally opposed to this unless Bernardo insists. Fuck Barcelona. Bernie’s arguably been our best player this season.

Not only that, but there’s not a lot of players that a similar to him that are available. He brings energy, goals from nowhere, tackling and tenacity.
I’d only say sell this summer if he wants to go still.

We thought that about Kompany, Toure, Silva, Aguero.
And we have continued to win trophies
He is a damn fine player, of that there is no question. But when he leaves, (hopefully in a good few years yet by the way), we will find a replacement

Kolarov has been irreplaceable though.
