I was born that year to be fair, so I was probably cheering on whilst swimming around.

Fans back then were real hard core vocal fans - todays fans are nowhere near that level of support .

I was listening to that game on the radio, in Aldershot , whilst in the army .

Incredible moment to be “back in the big time”.

I was there started in the corner between Main and North Stand Ended up back of the Main Stand. Crazy hot day. Thousands without tickets blagged it.

Same as the Blackburn away game - supporters were fanatical back then.

I was there as well at the bottom of the Kippax, North Stand end. It was fucking heaving. It was a roasting hot day and we were all nervy as fuck. That first goal by David Phillips was about eight or nine minutes in if memory serves. I still thought it could go tits up, remembering luton two years before. Andy May's header calmed things down somewhat. It ended up being one of the best days I have ever had watching City.

Rob Lee for them went on to have a very good career. Never could stand alan curbishley, though.

So was I, and I didn't have the excuse of being in the army.

Correct, when I got home I found out about the fire, it kind of spoilt what had been one of the best ever days

Haha, so was I, although I would have been a few months old.

First City kit I had that. This seasons one reminds me of it with the blue shorts.

Used to stand two thirds up the kippax and on occasions when we scored ended up near the bottom ha , unbelievable experience and nobody really got hurt . Lost items got passed back up to fans aswell , I lost my bus pass once and city fans passed it back up the kippax to me awesome days . No mobile phones back then haha .
