Fantastic, just fantastic.

If this had happened three weeks ago would RM have got Haaland?

Who cares?
Fuck em
almost identical deals offered to him, but since PSG won La Liga are outraged and complaining to UEFA about state clubs avoiding FFP - US owned Sky right behind them against dirty Arab money and also giving Yank owned Burnley & Leeds full support against non-Yank Everton. Everybody must see this fraud.

Head of the french league responded backing PSG and calling out the hypocrisy of Tebas and La Liga

Never saw the premier league give City any backing after his attacks on us.

Head of UEFA also said the offers were similar and Madrid or La Liga won't tell UEFA how to run things

Foster leaving Watford plus a report from this time last year after Steffen had cost us the FA Semi - slightly adapted and taking account of the alleged 'bromance' between Eddy & Scott

Whilst I am excited by the recruitment of Haaland and Alvarez, I am also cautious about what I expect next season.

We know that that both are young and exiting talents when 'let off the leash' to damage opposing defenses, I do wonder if they will be given that freedom under Pep.
Vinnie's comments a few seasons ago recounting that in Pep's 1st season Pep's strategies and game plans were so intense and complex that they initially left players confused. It took time for the penny to drop and for players to adjust to his way of playing.
Grealish's comments after Sunday's game echoed that. At Villa he had freedom to play and was hugely successful, at City he openly admits he has not yet reached the heights expected of him. His comment was very inciteful. Whether to take the chance to run at defenses or shoot balanced by Pep's insistance that we don't lose possession. Knowing when to go and when not to has been a problem for Jack.
We have regularly seen how new players have seemed to go backwards in their 1st season until the penny drops and Pep's complexities allow them to blossom and improve, often dramatically in their 2nd.

The emphasis on keeping or not losing possession might also explain why our more forward players spurn chances in front of goal in favour of a pass.

On Sunday and previously v West Ham, the 0-2 deficits in both games and the need for Cityto score ensured that we became more aggressive in front of goal creating chance, taking the risk to shoot rather than pass....the result was we became almost unstoppable.

Next season, I think a lot will depend on Haaland and Alvarez getting to grips with Pep's possession philosophy and whether Pep will allow them off the leash to take the shooting chance rather than the safer option of the pass.

Haaland is very direct has a bit of pace and hard to knock off the ball he also has something we have missed upfront under Pep …… height ! Basically the perfect fit but like you say John it doesn’t always work out like that . Alvarez looks more of an Aguero type player but more mobile , word is City have been after him for a long time so he must surely have a big future with us . We still need to replace Fernandinho or Rodri will get burn out and a quality left back a priority. Can see Grealish playing a huge part next season the same curve ball as Leroy Sane who was absolutely class in his second season.

I think attacking players should be allowed all the freedom they want to express themselves - the only rule pep should enforce on them is to win back the ball when they lose it and run back and defend when necessary .

IMO You should never stop attacking players from using all their attacking skills for the price of just retaining the ball .

There again we scored 99 goals , so what do I know !

I agree but not sure about a great need for a left back. The full back role has been redefined in recent years and their defensive duties, particularly at City, seem to have become secondary to their more attacking roles.
Player burn out has become a major problem for us in recent years. Becuase of our success we are heavily involved in the later parts of the season. It is that time when our best players need to be at their best to compete with the lesser strained players from other Euro leagues in Euro comps.
There were time when KDB's energy levels seemed lower at crucial times and both at West Ham and Villawe had players who seemed leggy in the 1st halves, as though they found it hard to get going.
Burn out leads to injuries as we have seen too.

I think City have a great core of players who can deliver on the highest stage but now I think we need a 2nd string ready to step up who are every bit as good as the accepted more regular 1st team players.
Hopefully if we can improve our chance to goal ratio in games, it will allow more minutes for our younger talents to gain experience. That could prove crucial if we are to compete in the later stages for the major trophies.
Wer must eliminate the situation as much as possible, where we were forced to mix, match and patch up our defence through injuries over the last few weeks, even having to play an injured Laporte in those last crucial games.

Cucurella would be a great signing- he's in the top 3 full backs for chances created last season and in the top 3 for tackles.

I'd put his missus in the top 3 for City full backs behind Zinchenko's and Cancelo's

anyone else think Walker's city time might be drawing to an end? Especially if Zinny stays on, and assuming cucurella comes, we don't need 3 left backs ... nothing against Walker, love him and he still has his pace and has put in some top performances, but he also has the odd pk in him and doesn't really have the range of passing that we've come to expect from our FB's.

Just thinking out loud

He's our Number 1 full back for me. I think he had a great season.
If he wouldn't have got injured we'd have been beating the dippers on Saturday as we'd have beaten RM far more comfortably at home and we were in no danger away until he couldn't continue.
