Agreed. Cancelo at one point on Sunday took the ball off Grealish after Grealish did really well, only to lose it by walking into a defender. I get the feeling Grealish is sometimes scared to express himself because if he’s caught out he knows Cancelo will be halfway up the pitch and it will be classed as a Grealish mistake.

Compare that to the right side and players like Mahrez express themselves just fine because they have Walker sat behind them.

Grealish can't do anything wrong in your eye. I thought koloarv was the exception :lol:

Apart from being gorgeous, I think he’s class. Hazy was correct all along. He’s perfect for City - holds on to the ball well (as shown by City’s second goal on Sunday) and when he’s on form he’ll terrify defenders running at them. On top of that the amount of shit he gets from opposition fans and he just cracks on with it and has them on strings. I love the guy (Not as much as I love Kola).

Grealish is already showing glimpses of being better than he was in his first season. The whole team looked rusty first half Sunday which is understandable given the lack of pre season.

We've played one competitive game so far, he will get there i am sure.

What is fucking ridiculous was one of the pundits in the build to the prem, can't remember which twat it was said.....

"They should have sold Grealish instead of Sterling".... i defended Razzer to the hilt mainly based on the 3 fantastic seasons he had, but sadly something clearly fucked with his head during/post covid...... and ultimately something he couldn't get over whilst still with us.

As a person, i hope he can kick on and find some form again, just not too much to our detriment of course.

Bloody BBC using a twitter account called ManagaingBarca as a source to claim City have agreement to sell Bernado to Barca for "€50-60m" despite the fact that this source actually specifically says that no such agreement has been reached. Bad enough using the crappy Spanish papers as sources but some random Twitter bollox?

17 outfield players our bald genius said at his last presser - this presumably includes Palmer. Anyway Lodi could be another one (we're desperate according to this Telegraph moron) Eddy does need a Brazilian friend now Fern, Gabby & Kayke have gone tho'

And it is reflected in our squad. Now affetcs both first choice and second choice players. Look at our options at LB!

What is the fcuking point signing Haaland if you are going to be opened up at will by top class strikers.
When Cancelo gets injured or is exhausted becuase he plays to much we will be ripped apart by very good teams.

Forget this net spend BS, designed to make the Dippers look great, and get our LB position sorted and get some more depth in the squad.

Agree with this. Phillips laporte and palmer out today, our bench will at best have only three senior outfield options and its only gw2. Not good enough.
derby day the scores were level,
then the goat was fed by neville,
silly boy should know for sure,
feed the goat and he will score!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

4 not 3 I think
Ederson;
Kyle Walker, Rúben Dias, Nathan Aké, João Cancelo;
Kevin De Bruyne, Rodri, İlkay Gündoğan;
Phil Foden , Erling Haaland , Jack Grealish:

Bench: Stefan Ortega, John Stones, Bernardo Silva, Riyad Mahrez, Julián Álvarez, Josh Wilson-Esbrand, Rico Lewis, Luke Mbete, Liam Delap

The point signing Haaland is if we get ripped apart by these very good teams we've got more chance of scoring more at the other end and who are these good teams who will rip us apart. We lost 3 league games last season and none to the 2nd and 3rd place.
We got ripped apart by RM the last couple of minutes but if we'd have had Haaland we'd have been out of sight the 1st 20 minutes of the home game.

^^^^

We don't get ripped apart by anyone . No team last season really took the game to City . Even scouse got goals on the break - long hoof footy. The games against Madrid Benzima wellied a couple that could have gone anywhere and usually do . Weird fairy jumps by laporte and it's a penalty given away .Again Laporte against Palace cost us the match points . I don't recall any game last season where we were ripped apart by any team.

I think Haaland will also help out against these shit teams that whack 12 behind the ball (Southampton). They could just line up in straight lines and we’d struggle to break them down, but with Haaland he’ll be all over the show and they won’t be able to keep track of him, allowing other players space.

Yep.

Fair points - over reaction by me.
My concern is that we could be more vulnerable to giving up cheap goals (on the break) to teams with good strike forces.
They could target a specific weakness if Cancelo is injured or knackered. Zinch is gone, so who else can do a good job against the top strikers?
For ex against, Kane/Son, Salah/Diaz, Jesus/Martinelli, Aubameyang for Chelsea and the likes of Bayern and RM.
I realise that this is a worst case scenario and very pessimistic view but I think we got away with it last year and we have less cover at LB this year.
