Summer 2023 transfer window

Summer 2023 transfer window

Postby Dimples » Tue Feb 07, 2023 1:11 am

Read this in relation to FFP charges:

How long will this all take?
While your guess may be as good as mine on this, it’s highly likely that this will be an extremely long and drawn-out saga in which the biggest winners will be the lawyers.

To me that means our transfer business is fucked - for a long time. What top player will want to join with this going on? Potential sanctions include: fines, point deductions, transfer bans, demotion, etc...

Why would any top player join?

Or .....if we're going to get a transfer ban in the future we'll need to sign who we can now. We've got all our net spend money available

Why would we get a transfer ban? Are any of the charges relating the transfers? Maybe we should send Grealish back to Villa and they give us £100m. Leeds can give us £43m back. See how those clubs we’ve spent with feel about it.

Chelsea got one for 2 windows, not sure what for exactly.

That was by FIFA.

It's basically two things. Article 19 concerns the registration of minors. Chelsea are accused of having played youngsters -- most of them kids on trial -- in their youth teams without registering them. FIFA rules state that they need to have the requisite paperwork, even though the football association, which not coincidentally has also been found to be in breach, have rather more relaxed rules, which is why they are likely to join Chelsea in their appeal.

One of the most high-profile examples is Bertrand Traore. He's a Burkina Faso international (he made his debut for them at just 15) who was at Auxerre but moved to London at age 15. Chelsea could not legally sign him because minors from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) can't move to clubs abroad except if it's for "non-footballing reasons" (or if the club is less than 60 miles from the border).

Instead, Chelsea paid to send him to a private boarding school. He appeared in a few friendlies for the youth team as a trial and eventually signed when he turned 18.

Fair enough, cheers

I’ve just re-read the charges and some relate to youth team transfers so you’re correct, we may well get a similar ban to Chelsea’s.

I seem to recall that Chelsea or it may have been a spanish club, in a similar transfer embargo, went transfer shopping with a vengeance? Again, timing here is key as the tfr window has just shut. All that is assuming that we'd also be hit with a ban- whilst im sure our yank friends will push for it, the reality may be not to their liking. The absolute bunch of corrupt cunts

My point is that a top player, who will have his pick of clubs, will avoid City until this is sorted.
Why choose City when there is this cloud over the club.
It is unclear what the future holds, for ex, points deduction, transfer bans, demotion, etc...
Lets say this charge was brought against us a year earlier, would Haaland have joined?

I think this process is going to affect our transfer targets signing for us

Quite possibly why this has now been brought into play. Even if a year down the line the charges were suddenly dropped, the damage will have already been done

So we buy younger players who are slightly under "top" and improve them.

Where is Gobby Neville.it seems like yesterday he was disgusted in the USA nicking the Premier League. Now he sees the chance for the bent cunts to restore the league to its former self. In doing so removing the club that he wanted his club to replicate what we do with the community etc. This is an attempt to turn us into a Chernobyl by every aspect of the Premier League and it’s media. We have fuck all to lose, however silence will kill us twice over and cremated if we don’t speak out. I get we have the best fighting it in Law. But this is deeper it’s ruining us forever, no comebacks. City need to expose the Yanks or we are finished IMHO. I’ll support city no matter what.

The timing of this I think is relevant and the reasons will soon enough come out.

I wonder if the dippers got wind Bellingham for argument sake had chosen to join us in the summer and they got together with other yank owners to create a diversion? Or maybe another transfer target as yet uncovered by the press. Far fetched? Maybe, but I wouldn't rule anything underhand out from them

Yes Haaland would have joined because clauses would have been inserted into the contract to deal with this, i.e. if we were relegated he would have been allowed to leave etc.
I am guessing that any players signed next summer will have similar clauses, dealing with the potential scenarios that may arise, although I am by no means an expert on this. But just seems like something we will have to do. Therefore signings and contract negotiations will probably be more drawn out next summer.

I wouldn't get too worried about it. There is a lot of scaremongering going on.

This was my immediate thought. If I were a player I'd have an appropriate release clause put in my contract, possbly even contract termination if we are relegated etc. The club are adamant they have nothing to fear so would not object to such a clause because ot wont haooen, and I would get a massive signing on fee wherever I chose to go after being released.

Kvaratskhelia Scored for Napoli again. 10 goals and 9 assists.

Surely he’d only want to come here if we were interested?!

Problem is it’s dealing with Napoli.

We won't deal with Napoli again imho.
If you watch the Transfer Documentary (on Sky) one of the deals they follow is Fabian Ruiz.
His agent actually says Napoli are a difficult club to deal with and they were worried PSG would walk away. And that was with a player who ONLY had 12 months left on his contract!
Dealing with a club that will win Serie A and have a great shout in the champions league will make it nigh on impossible.

Agree, no chance we are going to talk to Napoli again after the Koulibaly saga.
