Now null and void
AND WHAT'S MORE: However, GOAL has recently learned that this release clause has not been delayed, but is in fact null and void following Guardiola's extension. That means that Haaland is under contract with City until 2027 and will not be able to leave without the club's approval. The Premier League club will be able to set their own price for the striker, all because of Guardiola's new deal.https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/explained-200m-erling-haaland-transfer-release-clause-vanished-pep-guardiola/bltbaa454c8ebe44d82

It's been decreed from now on scoring three times will be known as a Haal-trick

From the article:
Contrary to some information, there were no terms within this clause that favoured a move to Real Madrid specifically.
I don't know how this rumour managed to gain so much traction. There are plenty of people out there who believe that there was actually some kind of 'Madrid clause', in spite of the fact that this all originates from a journalist's speculation that (provided Barca's financial troubles continued and PSG were unable/unwilling to offload players) RM were the only non-Prem team in the world that could afford the £200m release clause.

Teamtalk with more nonsense about Haaland wanting to leave. I hope he gives them the Express treatment.

People wonder why football fans fucking hate journos with every fibre of their being
They're just banking the comments so if and when erling leaves in a few years, they'll say.... Told you so.... I said this from the start....
Then all the other kids in the playground will think they are really good.....
I wish there was a way to know you are in the good old days....before you've actually left them...

And what's on BBC this morning
"Real Madrid have reactivated 'Operation Haaland' with the intention of signing prolific Norway striker Erling Haaland, 22, from Manchester City in 2024, when a release clause in his contract of up to 240m euros (£212m) becomes active. (AS - in Spanish)"

Someone should tell Real and the BBC that the clause doesn’t exist anymore
