Surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet: https://theathletic.com/4006335/2022/12 ... r-sponsor/

Basically, the Rags' shirt sponsor (TeamViewer) seems to have over-valued itself, and was in no financial position to pay for this sponsorship deal. Now, the two parties have reached a deal whereby United can buy back the sponsorship and re-sell it to another bidder. I'm not sure if this would be allowed to happen mid-season.

Kudos for the press release, though; I reckon there was some kind of office Christmas party drinking game involved in its creation.

"Once a new shirt front partner is selected and takes on this role, TeamViewer AG will remain part of Manchester United’s partner ecosystem until the end of the original contract term, with an adapted scope of partnership.

This would lead to a substantial reduction of partnership volume to a single-digit million USD amount p.a., resulting in a significant positive impact on TeamViewer’s profitability.”

I was googling for the post match interview and "what's so special about Jurgen klopp" came up as a suggestion. Here's the answer:

"The foundation for high performance and effective teams involves building trust, and Klopp has defined his transformational leadership style with high energy, championing accountability, communicating clearly and showing emotional intelligence."

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club have said that once identified, the fan who kicked out at Aaron Ramsdale will face a lifetime ban of watching Spurs at home and away; so far, 5000 Spurs fans have come forward claiming responsibility.

Gave me a little chuckle that one, notts. Cheers.

So... Jurgen Klopp flies to Baghdad to watch a young Iraqi boy play football. Kloppy is suitably impressed and arranges for him to come over.

Two weeks later Liverpool are 4-0 down to Chelsea with only 20 minutes left, Klopp gives the young Iraqi striker the nod and on he goes.

The lad is a sensation, scores 5 goals in 20 minutes and wins the game for Liverpool. The fans are delighted, the players and coaches are delighted and the media love the new star.

When the lad comes off the pitch he phones his mum to tell her about his first day in English football.

'Hello mum, guess what?' he says 'I played for 20 minutes today, we were 4-0 down but I scored 5 and we won. Everybody loves me, the fans, the media, they all love me.'

'Wonderful,' says his mum, 'Let me tell you about my day. Your father got shot in the street and robbed, your sister and I were ambushed, assaulted and beaten up and now your brother has joined a gang of looters, and all while you were having such great time.'

The young lad is very upset. 'What can I say mum, but I'm really sorry..'

'Sorry?!!! Sorry?!!!' screams his mum, 'it's your fault we came to Liverpool in the first place!'

It is hoped fewer mistakes will be made with the arrival of Howard Webb
Webb, who refereed the World Cup final in 2010, is set to bring a greater level of transparency to the PGMOL

rags’ goal differential is now only +6, which is worse than brentford! how are they in 3rd place with that GD?? it’s an indictment of the whole league.

They were even as well last year. So over 63 games they are +6

For comparison we are +114
