Enjoy the win and trophy boys. Fuck everything else. Were club world champions!
Did my ACL in my twenties, a few years ago , didn't play rugby or football again or squash , tennis, badminton . Fucked at 25. Everytime i see one of these tackles i feel sick . If he's very lucky his ligaments may have just been stretched but that will require a fair amount of physio and mentally he won't be the same. Another Colin Bell moment in a fairly meaningless tournament. The tackle was bad, the player knew what he was doing as he wrapped his legs round Rodri's trailing leg. Could have happened against Palace or next game against Everton.
I pray i am not right but i think i will be
sorry, i was in the Kippax when Buchan hit Colin Bell, the tackle on Rodri most certainly wasn't as bad. We didn't have thousands of cameras then either.
I can only speak from experience. 1 year of Physio then an op to replace the acl with carbon fibre strands. 3 months in an articulated plaster cast then months of physio again . Never played again, just good enough to walk on and a fantastic 14 inch scar. Cut down in my prime. Gascoigne had the same op at the same time, He still had a career but was he as good?
So that was what? 30 years ago. Knowledge of that particular injury are way more advanced than back then. Looked bad at the time but the way he's walking up and down steps without a limp suggests it's not as bad as first feared. Sorry you got a bad injury that has affected your life but not all knee injuries are ACL tears.

True, medical science and sports injury treatments have massively improved since my op in 1989. Carbon fibre replacements thought of as old hat these days, although it was fairly innovative at the time they're not used that much these days. I didn't see the pics of Rodri smiling post match as my feed ended but i really hope he's ok. I guess only time will tell. Anyway here's wishing him and all the team and staff a safe journey home and a happy Christmas , A good result,
All the best to every blue out there. Have a great Christmas . Back next week . PS Thought Pep looked great in his shirt and tie ,World Class
