Especially from the Portuguese league which is a lower standard
We paid £60m for Ederson and Dias from them didn’t we?
Yep, but Neves just had his first season. Father Ruben was their captain, while Eddie had a few years as number 1.
But I recall Eddie was cheaper?
He’s been playing in their first team since 2022 and is a full Portuguese international. €55m is nothing - we paid that for Nunes

€40m for Ederson 7 years ago. €55m seems about right 7 years later

65 appearances for them since 2022
He looks class. £45m seemed a lot for Palmer last summer..

Increasingly it looks like were pretty much done in the market for this window. All the sounds from Pep seems to suggest were going to run with what we have. I would have loved to see assistance for Rodri but cant see that happening now.

It looks like its going to be a season of bleeding more youngsters in - I don't mind having a 'mediocre' season that as long as PeP uses them.
THEY SAY SWEARING IS DUE TO A LIMITED VOCABULARY. I KNOW THOUSANDS OF WORDS, BUT I STILL PREFER "FUCK OFF" TO "GO AWAY"

No chance it's going to be mediocre. Pretty sure Bobb will be given a load more minutes meaning we have Grealish, Doku, Bobb and Savio for the 2 wide positions feeding the Viking meaning Silva and Foden will both be in the middle so Rodri, Kova, Kev, Silva, Foden plus Nico O Reilly will probably play some cup games and get a few minutes in the league. There's also McAtee who could stay and who knows if Nunes will improve. Then we have Rico who looks like he can play loads of positions along with last years defence which has loads of options.
If we keep Ederson i think we'll walk it. Can only see Liverpool going backwards after Klopp and the rest other than Arsenal are miles away.

i'd be worried if our rivals had done some major strengthening but there's been hardly any transfer activity of note by any of the big teams so far this summer

If we can keep Kev and Haaland fit that’ll be like two new signings. Play Bobb more. McAtee cup games. Josh used as the Gomez that plays 10 mins when we’re smashing some cunts. We’ll be okay

Those complaining that Pep doesn’t give our youngsters a fair chance should be pleased that we didn’t go in for expensive midfield imports. The likes of Oscar, Rico and even O’Reilly have a real chance this season. You’d think that Kevin and Bernardo may be playing their last seasons, maybe Walker too. Time for the youngsters to show they’ve got the right stuff.

I am all for bringing young players through the ranks and giving them minutes. Giving Bobb, Savio, Rico, Mc Atee, O Reilly etc more time is great. But that wont do anything if we ever have a problem with Rodri. Its a position were very light in cover for.

I can see Kova being back up for Rodri more this season.

Its the obvious choice, or some type of pivot thing. Still both options are a long way short of the real thing.

I would have liked Guimaraes but City were not prepared to pay 100 million and the bar codes were not prepared to budge. Pep said O’Reilly could step in for Rodri this season but that seems a stretch. Kovacic it will be presumably perhaps with Bernie as a double pivot now that Savio is there as a potential right winger.

Galatasaray in for Phillips?
He's keen apparently
I wish there was a way to know you are in the good old days....before you've actually left them...
