One of the finest gone too soon. Gave us hope and stayed classy when we did him dirty. I’ll never forget.

Such sad news. RIP Sven, gone too soon.
He gave my lad his first chance to chant "We are top of the league" and actually mean the top flight!

Beat the Rags home and away. Wasn’t it that famous Munich celebration that season and Sven and the boys just rocked up, cocks swinging and ruined their day.

yep, that start we had under him was amazing. i was at west ham away when bianchi opened the scoring, thought we had a real gem in him...
feel doubly sad with this one as, sven announced his illness the same week as my dad told us he had stage 4 cancer - thankfully, my dad's isn't pancreatic (it's his prostate) and he's responding well to treatment.
rip sven, thanks for the memories.

Good times under Sven. I remember the excitement, a glamour signing, we had some decent players at that time as well

I think we have Thaksin to thank for that. Didn’t have to buy us and pump money into us but he did. And knew when he needed to get out (for political reasons of course)

He raised the profile of the club, probably had a part (unknown to him) in the prep for the takeover.

So sad :( and the bravery to accept and do that video. My mum never accepted it and I don't think I did either.

Always wished he'd been there for the takeover. It would have been progress from day one instead of them giving a substandard manager (Hughes) time to prove he was out of his depth.

RIP Sven, handled his horrible illness with strength and dignity.
Loved his year with us, bought some quality players- beat the scum twice and played some lovely football.
When we all knew he was being sacked the last game at Middlesbrough when we got hammered 8-1 the fans never stopped singing his name all game.

We bought Elano, Petrov, Bojinov, Corluka, Bianchi, Garrido, Benjani, Caicedo. Pretty sure Geovanni as well. We had one loan - Castillo, which Castillo paid for himself.

Was some summer that!

The best one we had had up to that point and given where we were as a club then compared to now, arguably it could be said the best ever

Massive hopes for Bojinov, only for him to get injured.

It was also Michael Johnson’s breakout season. He was class that year!

That PR stunt was so fucking low it makes my skin crawl.
They can't make a simple gesture without making it all about them.
